The men’s 1500 OLY finals was the first electrifying race we saw at the OLY. It should be in the top 10. I’d have the men’s 400m oly final as number one for me. It was FAST and it was INSPIRATIONAL.

Of course those are all great races and to put them in order is personal. My favorite races were 1) Quincy Hall 400m, I thought it was the most incredible race I've ever seen, a la Dave Wattle 2) Rai Benjamin 4 x 400m, to hold off Tebogo was amazing! 3) Masai Russel Olympic 100mH she beat an amazing field.

Great choices. For me, I switched the order of 1-2 ONLY bc I have to think how I felt in the moment. The 100m became even more crazy bc of the times that you see at the end but during the race nothing can top that mens 4x4 to me. Tebogo tracking Rai like prey had me screaming and crying at once 😅😭😭😭😭 Same for Quincy’s race. That was so crazy but I didn’t peep the full extent (and his facial expressions) until replay bc i didn’t expect it in the moment. Now I may put Quincy #2.

@TheFinalLeg in a previous conversation, you said the 1968 was better because of the world records. I say, go back and look at all the events and time and 2024 is better. Also in the 100m, the last place finisher in 2024, would have won the 100 m in 1968 and 1968 in the women's 400m, the winner had a time of 52.0 and the winner in the women's 400mh had a time of 50.37. No NCAA Women's Team had swept 1-4 prior to ARK's 1234 Super Sweep (5 Teams from '84, '85, '96 had a 123; 200m FSU & LSU; 400m UT; HJ Arizona & HAM South Carolina). 5th place finisher Isabella Whittaker has since transferred to Ark from Penn :) ARK went on to destroy their own NCAA 4x4 Record by 4s with 3.17.96 (#4 all-time) which would've been sub 3.17 on fresher legs! 13:55; Another exciting & interesting thing about the OLY M4x4 Final is that the Top 5 were all missing 1st Teamers either injured and/or off-form; USA (Hall & Norman), BOT (Scotch), GB (Mitcham & Reardon), BEL (Doom) & SA (WvN). A NGR M4x4 of Ogazi, Bamidele, Ezekiel & Okezie is more than capable of being the 4th African Team in that Final and in future WC/OLY Finals, as should its M4x1 of Ashe, Udodi, Ajayi & Godson Brume & W4x1 of Amusan, Ofili, Chukwuma & Godbless if they ever get their act together as that's far too much talent to be this underachieving! S/O Yaroslava Mahuchikh breaking the 37yr old HJ WR @Paris DL & the super dramatic OLY Mixed 4x4 Final with Femke walking down BEL, GB & USA in easily one of the most viral races of the Olympics. S/O Silesia DL PV not just cos of Mondo's 6.26m WR, but was the 1st time in history that 3 men (Kendricks & Karalis) vaulted 6m+ in the same competition. S/O OLY Discus Final with Roje Stona (off to try & make the NFL) upsetting the big names (Ceh, Stahl, Denny & WR Holder Alekna) to win in a 70m OR. Gotta show some quick love to the distance crew with some of the deepest M800/1500m, M5/10K, W1500m, W3K SC, W5/10K & Marathon we've arguably ever seen. Yes improved tech (shoes & wavelight) has played its part, but the performances still have to be delivered. Justin Gatlin (9.74) has done well to remain in the All-Time Top 5 since Sep '14, but at least one of Fred, Kishane, Trayvon & CC should've moved him off there by now with a wind-legal 9.73 :) Might well happen next yr with those 4 plus Lyles, Simbine, Tebogo & Zharnel all hopefully staying healthy & battling each other all yr. Will be interesting to see if Tebogo (9.86 NR) given his range (100/200/300/400/4x4) has a low-to-mid 9.7s in him with his current training or will he have to sacrifice a little something re his 400m/4x4 training to enable a low-to-mid 9.7s clocking?! Oblique after consecutive 4th, 4th & 8th place finishes in 3 WC/OLY 100m Finals just needs to focus on finally getting on that podium esp after seeing Kishane do so at the 1st time of asking!

0:50 Why on Earth is Sydney’s reaction time in the 400m hurdles final so much faster than Lyles’ and Kishane’s, etc. reaction times in the 100m final? Like sprinters in general really need to work on their reaction times (apart from Kerley - 0.108 and Jacobs - 0.114 lol), especially Sha’Carri Richardson (0.221 eww).
@TheFinalLeg28 күн бұрын
Yea reaction times can be relatively inconsistent. Even Fred with his amazing reaction in that Paris final is not always super consistent in most of his races. But Sha'carri definitely has had some really poor reaction times and starts throughout her career, despite making up for it in the 2nd half of the race.
@AthleticsEditz28 күн бұрын
@@TheFinalLeg Yeah, hopefully sprinters in the future can really get them down, especially in major races where those couple of hundredths really make the difference (cough*, cough* Paris)!

@@hq8200 Wait, from 0-10m Kerley was faster in the semis?! WHAT?! That’s crazy if so.

Those reactions times aren't normal especially for Kerley Jacobs is usual in that range others in that range are CC, Trayvon, Brady I think you start to see the trend they're all 60m guys are people who get out hot and are trying to hold that last 40m. Everybody in the Olympic final rely more on top end speed meaning they aren't necessarily worried about their reaction times per se.

@@TheFinalLeg Greater than Jakob's 7.17 3k WR? Better than Sydney's (expected) 50.37 400mH WR? There's been other world records and fast times this year (e.g. Men's 800m Final in Paris) which Yaroslava's WR is arguably better than, and I get it's like the oldest record in the books but surely it's not the individually *BEST* performance of the year 'by a long way'? Your opinion is obviously valid though, I'm just giving mine :)
