Speculation* We only get one of Vyke's eyes(The Fingerprint Grape) and give it to Heyetta to eat. Which is unique in two ways: 1)All the other finger grapes we find and give to Hyetta to eat consisted of a pair of melted eyes and 2) Vyke's eye was considered by Hyetta to be special in some way. Maybe it was because of Vyke's power/potential and the unrivaled progress he had made on his journey to become Elden Lord. I submit that Vyke was manipulated by Shabriri and went to find the Three Fingers, but seeing as how he was fully armored when he got "three fingered" he may have only been partially corrupted. We ourselves have to remove all of our armor and weapons to gain audience with the Three Fingers, but it looks like Vyke didn't have to strip down to his skivvies like we had to. Maybe because of this extra layer of armor protection, he wasn't fully instilled with the Three Finger's madness, and was able to eventually resist the control of the Frenzied Flame and remove his one corrupted eye(Which interesting enough had a fingerprint from the Three Fingers imprinted onto it). His helmet is even melted on the left side where his left eye is. Once this Three Fingers imprinted eye was removed(The so called "Fingerprint Grape") the Frenzied red phantom version of Vyke manifested from the discarded eye and took on a "life" of it's own. The very same Vyke that we fight near the Tower of Sauron and behind the Frenzied village near the dead Finger Maiden. The Vyke we fight in the evergoal in the snow fields uses dragon incantations and shows no signs of Frenzied Flame corruption. So maybe its possible that he attempted a course correction, but was then somehow imprisoned in the evergoal in the mountaintops before accomplishing his journey to face the Fire Giant. Maybe Shabriri himself sealed Vyke in the evergoal? Obviously without a kindling maiden, I'm not sure what Vyke would have been able to accomplish at the Forge of the Giants, but I'm just connecting dots and attempting to put a timeline together to construct a theoretical storyline for Vyke that makes sense.

Love how you guys explains the lore with science! I believe the evergaols prevent outside Eldritch influence over someone when placed in there... So the Vyke we fought inside the evergaols is the very same Vyke we fought outside, only sane but wrack with guilt... I believe story wise, IF we ever met him at his prime un influenced by the Eldritch Flame of Frenzy, he is a very hard opponent. I mean a Dragon fell inlove with Vyke! Not just an ordinary Dragon. Vyke is a forgotten hero of the shattering we could only imagine the campaigns and frontlines he participated... But I would like to dwell on how DEEP he Love and Care for the Maiden... I can imagine how much he felt betrayed and dis traught when he discovered the lifeless body of his dear Maiden... Vyke alone deserves an anime or a book perhaps to retell his exploits... Love... humanity... and his very downfall...

I also see you having to remove your armor as being symbolic. Vyke failed to become the lord of anything, much less of frenzy. He inherited frenzy flame (maybe imperfectly) to save his maiden. But the lord of frenzy must divest themselves of everything, devoting themselves almost ascetically to the destruction of all (lack of clothes on midra and in the FF ending). Vyke still had an attachment in his maiden and in proper lordship--he hadn't divested himself of everything.

What doesn't make sense to me with Bernahl is that he didnt want to burn his maiden but she just did it anyway would this not have triggered the burning of the erdtree or was that purely a Melina thing?. How come he wasn't able to become lord after his maiden burned herself was it because she did it against his will?

When we sacrifice Melina to burn the Erdtree, we still can't get inside until we go to Farum Azula and release Destined Death. The implication is that the Old Tarnished burned it (using Bernahl's maiden), but never released Destined Death, so the tree just sat there smoldering and none of them were able to become Lord.

I feel like there's a lot of paralels between Neon Genesis Evangelion's Human instrumentality program and Vyke's storyline, i always saw Vyke's descent into madness as something very close to Shinji's lethargic state in end of evangelion, while Vyke's was a very prolific Elden Lord candidate, he was not necessarily okay with the whole thing, an after the vines closed the path to him he just went "Fuck it, if the Tree wont cooperate i will just fuck everything up for everybody and everybody will become one again", becoming the Elden Lord is the Erdtree narrative, its completely undestandable why Vyke started to Chimp out after the tree rejected him and he was at a point where he was not very keen on sacrificing anything else for the whims of some fucking gamer LED tree.

I'm convinced vyke is just a meta joke about the player, because there's no way you know what you are doing the first time you encounter the 3 fingers and just meeting them locks you into 1 possible frenzy flame ending. (unless you somehow figure out the needle and the dragon/melenia quest). And vykes gear description is he was closest to being elden lord and for some unknown reason he abandoned his quest and went mad with the frenzy flame. (Paraphrasing) which is exactly how the frenzy flame quest plays out for the player. Oh I was trying to be elden lord but got curious about this weird door and now I gotta blow up the world with fire I guess.

I’m sure it definitely was Shabriri who convinced Vyke not to kill the maiden he fell in love with. All in Shabriri’s plan for chaos to destroy the world. Typical demon behavior, he manipulated Vyke for his own cause. I think that’s why they chose that specific name. As Jamie Lannister once said “the things we do for love”

One confusing thing about the Tarnished. My thought was that once the golden hue was taken from the host of Godfrey, they were forced to leave the Lands Between. Were some allowed to stay behind? Was Vyke tarnished and at the Round Table after this decree? And why did Vyke attempt to become Elden Lord if it was currently being occupied by Radagon? And were Vyke and Bernhal vying for Elden Lord around the same time period? (Post shattering)

I think there may have been a period after the Shattering began where things were still somewhat stable. The First Defense of Leyndell monument mentions a sovereign alliance that fell with the battle. That was probably the start of the open combat of the Shattering. Perhaps the earliest returning Tarnished were celebrated in Leyndell due to their ties with Morgott's father and it was only later after who knows how much time at war that his ominous majesty soured on the concept.
