The “best case scenario” is not a 4 year deal. The best case is a Mahomes deal 6+ years with partial guarantees and every year he plays well the next year automatically fully guarantees. It’s literally pay for play with a big number and gives you a ton more restructure flexibility. I hope the packers aren’t looking at the Goff/lawrence deals as the bench mark. If you trust love which I do, lock him and make him guarantee his contract with his play like the chiefs did early in mahomes contract. It’s not rocket science

I'm not gonna worry about anything. The cap will continue to go up, Love looks like a superstar and everything he went through last year would have made almost any first year starting QB fold mid season. And the reality of anyone that says we only saw 1 season, what are the other options? Franchise and pay him top 5 money. Then what he if has a monster season. Gotta trust MLF and Gute. They have something us fans don't have. They have been around him for 4 years and know every aspect of JL. His personal life, his work ethic, what kind of player he is. I know what I saw the last 10 games and he was making plays that only top tier QB's make. At least we don't have Rodgers holding us hostage like he did for the last 3 years he played for us. Glad we have a QB that's already become one of the leaders of this team

Did you see that the recent lawsuit ruling against the NFL that has them paying $4B-$12B may affect future salary caps? That could be a big hangup since that just happened after the TL deal. If future caps go down to cover that loss, that could totally throw the assumptions of growth in future caps out the window. The increases are never guaranteed. Remember the drop in the cap during COVID that really handcuffed the Packers and many other teams.

That would be terrible for the Packers. Basically paying market value for the short term because you don't trust him yet. Then in two years you have to break the bank again and it would be more expensive compare to giving him a 5y contract extension now (which would tie him for for 6y). It would worry me more if Jordan Love's had a strong 1st half last year then fell off on the second half when teams had more game tape on him. But he got better at the end and into the playoffs against tougher teams and in the do or die stretch of the season.

Teams that pay their QB’s $55,000,000 plus only have a small window of time to compete due to the lack of money for the remainder of the team. An analyst once said that teams who pay over 15-20% of their cap money to QB’s have a difficult time competing. The Chiefs are the exception. I do really like Love and hope he has a bright future with the Packers. The Packers have some Def. Players and some WR’s who will be looking for big paydays. Time will tell!

IDEAL scenario, the Packers can get away with making some of the money incentive based. That said, Love has a ton of leverage right now and can probably get practically anything he wants

Tbh I don’t really care how much he signs for. Some people want to underpay him and offer 40 million and some want to offer up to 60 million. As long as he performs well in the upcoming season, I could care less the amount he signs for. For some reason people think that if you sign qbs to big money, you won’t have money for anyone else which is just not fully true. The cap is always rising and as time goes on, bigger costing players (Ex: Jaire) move on and some of the younger guys leave too to go get money somewhere else. With cap rising every year and older players leaving, you will most likely have money to get guys.

Everybody keeps going on about how team friendly Mahomes and Bradys contracts were and how they could still afford other players because they only wanted to win. So why aren't the Packers pushing harder for that kind of deal? Why is everybody so willing to accept Love being paid 60 million a year? When Rodgers got 50 million 2 years ago all anyone said was they wouldn't be able to afford any other players, it's why Adams left. In a couple years when Love's cap hit starts going up is right when they will have a lot of other players who are looking for their 2nd contracts.

That’s what people aren’t understanding: Patric Mahomes wants to win, it’s more important than money. The chiefs aren’t lucky he knows what he’s doing. I’ve been beating this drum for a while now. If money is super important to Love, get the money. If winning is more important take a team friendly deal. Guess who makes the most money? Yes, Mahomes (and Brad, who took good deals) he’s paid the least it terms of contract, but he makes way more money elsewhere in sponsorships….. winning will get you more money in the long run.
