What if we had dungeons where we had to find keys to rooms with terminals, but we have to find different keys elsewhere to ACTIVATE those terminals? You need more than 8 dungeons in an open world Zelda gane. TotK improved a bit by giving us caves, but it needs to be like Skyrim with dungeons of various types. Class dungeon is always a weird phrase to me, because what does it actually mean? Zelda 1 had dungeons that didn't entirely fit that mold, if that mold basically means collect big item, find big key, fight a boss, but then every game has had variations on what classic actually means. e.g. Majora has mini0-bosses. I don't think I just want classic, I want variety. BotW suffered because that world felt so varied but the dungeons were too similar from one another.

You're right, I imagine a Divine Beast might have been lauded as a really cool dungeon or mini-dungeon in a game with more "classic" dungeons
@lethallohn
@lethallohn Ай бұрын
Totally agree, many unique dungeons is a must. A Classic Dungeon is pretty much what you said: mini boss, get an item for said dungeon, find big key, and fight the boss. BOTW and TOTK don't apply as much because all of your powers you use in the game are obtained from the start. So, there's less player progression in the dungeons. Especially because past items would usually allow you to do things in the overworld and gain access to areas to progress the story or do side quests. However, like you said, it doesn't need to be "classic." Each dungeon just needs to feel different and give a good sense of progression. Some could have you collect keys, others may not. Some could have a mini boss and some may not. Echoes of Wisdom played with this idea and I liked the direction of that. It also had a better sense of progress because you were constantly improving your abilities throughout the game. Basically, the next Zelda game is going to suffer from the same issues if it gives all of the abilities from the start. It could give some, but it definitely should not give all.

No Master Sword. MM is the only 3D Zelda that doesn't have this sword and I'd like to see this return 8. No breakable weapons, no 'PAUSE' healing 9. Playable story 10. Green Tunic. Honestly half these things feel like something I'd never have had to say before Botw came out. A return to form with more freedom than SS is basically my perfect Zelda game. I would love a return to the model of a gradually expanding world with metroidvania elements, meaning dungeon items that unlock more zones. They could take their experience with BOTW and TOTK and use the option of expanding the world in different directions to tell a non-linear story. The games have certainly gone in a different direction, and I do think the older games have some aspects that are superior to the newer BotW style. However, the older games do feel older. They feel unnatural to play a lot of the time. The progression feels very forced and a bit strange. In BotW/TotK, it all feels a lot more natural. You don’t feel limited by so much weird stuff. Like, oh! You can’t pick this up because you’re not strong enough. Can’t dive down because you don’t have these iron boots. Can’t sprint because, well, you just can’t! Being limited can be good in games, but I think they should leave it to the 2D Zeldas at this point. Perhaps they could alternate between making a classic 2D Zelda and a classic 3D Zelda, in between the 5-6 year wait time of the big, modern 3D Zeldas. For example, we get “big 3D Zelda” in 2030. In 2031 we get “classic 2D Zelda”. Lastly, in 2033/34, we get “classic 3D Zelda”. Then we’d get the next “big 3D Zelda” in 2035/36, and the process would repeat itself.

For a reboot of Ocarina of Time, two new endings players can choose: 1.) When Ganondorf kills Link in the final battle, Zelda and the sages sealed the King of Evil to the Sacred Realm but at the cost of losing two pieces of the Triforce; leading up to the Downfall Timeline 2.) A new alternate timeline where Link stays with Zelda in the Adult timeline, Zelda realizes that time travel will make things worse and that she can grow from her past mistakes. They should definitely remake the GBC Oracle games in the new Links Awakening engine as their next stop gap...those games are great and criminally overlooked. They could even maybe complete the 3rd game (there was originally supposed to be 3 games as the Triforce series, one for each Hylian goddess, but it was cut back to 2 games in the end due to time/budget). The games could link together using save-data now rather than clunky passwords. In terms of the mainline 3D games, better classic dungeons, yes. I'd like to see more ambitious world-altering mechanics like those Oracles games or LTTP: - two parallel Hyrule maps, the same but subtly different, like the light and dark worlds in LTTP - or ability to manipulate the seasons or nature in the world (a la Oracle of Seasons) to change it and do more outdoor puzzle solving rather than limit puzzles to shrines. Making plants grow, melting ice, freezing water, controlling animals, stuff like that.

Feels like the true answer is basically "everything in the video", minus a direct sequel to TotK in the same world. There will inevitably be new 2D and 3D Zelda games, and they'll take place in different versions of Hyrule to games like TotK and EoW. Games like OoT and MM might get remade or remastered again, since Nintendo knows how much we love those games. A BotW port/remaster for the Switch 2 or another later content seems like an obvious choice. As for what we'd want though? Honestly, just new 2D and 3D Zelda games set in a new location (like a new kingdom or parallel world) with an interesting new story, a new villain that isn't Ganon, and a good mix of elements from the open world games and more linear ones. So a more linear story with traditional dungeons and boss fights, but an open air setting which these things are set in. And more enemy types too, since we still have very few of them in the wild era titles, even in AoC and TotK. Regardless, I'm not too worried myself. It seems like Nintendo is trying to mix the best of the two formulas together, with the last two Zelda games gradually making dungeons feel closer to those in the traditional games and adding storylines that aren't just "this event happened 100 years ago, figure out how it occurred via memories". So the next title is almost certainly going to be closer to what the fans want than anything released beforehand, and it'll probably change up a lot of the things we didn't care for in the last few games too. Great video!

There could be bigger, optional dungeons, like larger, more diverse shrines. Additionally, what about breakable weapons mixed in with unlock-able non-breakable weapons to use when low on the breakable stuff? Breakable weapons could have better stats while unbreakable weapons could have one particular ability. It’d be like the Master Sword in the newer games without the need to recharge. Given how little TOTK changed from BOTW and how immensely successful it was, I would be shocked if we didn't get at least one more open world game full of shrines, Korok seed puzzles, terminal-based dungeons, Bokoblin camps, etc. I would love to be wrong and see them shake up the formula again but I don't know if there's any incentive for Nintendo to do that.

The next game won't be like that. TOTK was similar because it is a direct sequel on the same hardware within the same generation. This makes sense. The next game will likely bring back the open world, but with different mechanics and ideas and likely the return of other things that BOTW and TOTK didn't have. I really don't know why people think every Zelda moving forward is gonna be some COD esque copy and paste job

The next two games need to be harder, much darker, and more intense. If they are new stories they need to turn it up a lot, they could build off of Demise, reintroduce the Twlight realm and venture into the reality of the triforce(the goddesses) have a foil, an opposite, not just Ganondorf or Demise, I mean a God or Goddess of Darkness, hell they could make three of them and include Demise, Ganondorf and Majora as parts of the enemy crew. That doesn’t even include the dungeon bosses, which need to be more difficult, Botw and TOTK were fun but the bosses were not all that. If they need time they can gain some by rebooting OOT, Majora, and Twilight then it needs to be in the more modern approach, quite literally more difficult because every aspect of the game would be more difficult. Link to the Past in a proper remake in the 3D platform would be absolutely amazing. It was immaculate on its own.

I would also want this game to have enemy variety and overworld size that absolutely dwarfs its predecessors. Last but not least, I want its story to be all about finally breaking Demise's curse.

Just a complete rework of ocarina of time, but with all the modern enhancements that technology has to offer today while keeping the characters and the story essentially the same completely redo the land of Hyrule, the dungeons, the temples and the gameplay mechanics.

If we get anything Zelda for the Switch 2 Launch, I think the most likely thing we get are 4k Versions of Wind Waker or Twilight Princess. The new big 3D Zelda will be a long while away as well as a 2D game. It's possible to do classical dungeons within an open world with an item mainly useful for said dungeon. It's just I don't think the Zelda Team will ever go back to that based on what Eiji Aonuma has said. Best we can hope for is something drastically different from BOTW and TOTK. One way I see that being the case is if the game doesn't take place in Hyrule, or takes place in many different lands. If it is in Hyrule, then the story along with gameplay has to be something extra/different. It can't just have the typical civilizations and dungeons.

I can think of so many great ideas. How about this one. Have a open world, like Breath Of The Wild, and have a certain amount of dungeons and shrines where no shrine is similar, and that solving them alows access to different parts of the map, making it progressively harder, in order to get to different areas where dungeons are! And have all 10 dungeons connected throughout the world. Where you have to solve portions of the dungeons, in order to open other portions of all dungeons. Until you get enough equipment to solve dungeon 1, and so on. Making the last dungeons almost impossible to solve And at the end of the game, in order to defeat the villain, a whole new portion of a landscape reveals itself, and you have a number of puzzles to solve in order to defeat villains! And defeat the final boss. Ganon or whatever end boss!

I really enjoyed the game just as I enjoyed both Breath of the Wild and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. The only mistake in TOTK I have seen is not showing more of Zelda’s journey in the distant past and content (from the first teaser trailer and from the Master Works) where she and Link explored the underground cavern with the history of Ganondorf in the cave paintings has been cut off from the final game. Since the story itself has been divided into two parts, why can Nintendo give us an interactive Dragon Tear memory where we have a playable Princess Zelda? This again is a missed opportunity they had not thought it through since Skyward Sword. Let alone the origin of the Zonai, a Twinrova boss battle, and give Ganondorf more insight/background to his character. TOTK's story has been taking a backseat which upsets most people. I am no game developer but Fujibayashi and Aonuma needs to reconsidered this through while planning out their next project.

You can have an open world game with a great story, but recovered memories aren’t the right vehicle for it unless you use an amnesiac protagonist, which would become old quickly. The solution to making a story optional is to get the story through exploring the world and talking to people. Dragon Quest III is a good model for this, and came out in the late 80s

I feel like it was a really huge missed opportunity for breath of the wild and tears of the kingdom to not have this. It would’ve been very interesting to see hyrule As it recovers from the events of the game, there could’ve been such cool activities or if they wanted to they could’ve continued the story slightly by having us track down powerful minions of Ganondorf to even eliminating the yega once and for all it also would have been really cool to finally see Zelda in the game and even spend time with her while she works on rebuilding hyrule I’m just saying it’s a good idea

100% voting for a vast open world with both room for free exploration _and_ a better structure and progression for the main quest. Having tons of smaller challenges in the open makes it even more meaningful to make dungeons linear inside, restrictions help increase the reward. Keep non-linear and environmental pieces of lore, but guarantee a strong delivery for main story beats that unfold in the present and affect the world. "Mysterious" lore is fine but it wouldn't hurt to commit more clearly to a setting, "far into the future" is a fair way to keep creative room but it feels weird to be teased major concepts and easter eggs that are never developed to a satisfying extent for those who care about answers, requiring Master Works for some extra details. Better flesh out the world building even if it means going for fewer concepts (sky and depths suffered from a bloated scope). Anything is possible as long as they want to go for it.

Personally I think a lot of guys from my era, ones who started with Ocarina or Link To The Past and older guys who played the first two in the series, crave for that old school Zelda back. I gave Breath Of The Wild a couple different tries, once on the Wii u, which I hated the console, so I figured that’s why I wasn’t having fun with it, then once on the Switch, I ended up getting further on the switch but didn’t sink a super amount of time into it. I love open world games, like Skyrim and Witcher for example. But I don’t think Zelda really needs this massive open world. I think another open world Zelda game would be great but on a much smaller scale. I didn’t care for the shrines or the fact that your weapon would break often in BOTW. I think if we had a smaller open world, even maybe a semi open world with that traditional Zelda feel the old dungeons a classic Zelda story like OOT, Twlight Princess, it would be great. I think they should do something similar to God Of War 2018 and Ragnarok, if we could have a Zelda game based like those with the old school dungeons we all want it could be perfect. I’d be cool with an OOT remaster or remake as well. Not that I really need it personally. I played the GameCube version recently and it played great to me.

I would like to see more “what if” games like Hyrule Warriors: Calamity was. Except I want them more Zelda style than warrior style. Becoming Link before BOTW took place and changing the timeline and at the same time, dealing with Ganondorf’s return from the sequel could lead to another timeline split which means more games. I would have liked to play as Zelda while Link was asleep for 7 years to see if maybe Zelda herself could have stopped Ganondorf. Also after Link returns to his past, I would have enjoyed playing as Zelda to prevent the flood. I also want anymore remakes of Ocarina of Time to have the downfall ending if you get a Game Over facing Ganon. My biggest problem with Totk is the "boring exploration", all of the things the game added sound cool and interesting at first but as you explore you realize how soulless everything is. Theres only one main big sky-island, all of the other ones are just big rocks with maybe a recycled blessing shrine (btw more than half of them are either empty or stupid tutorials about mechanics you already know). There are more than a 100 caves but they all look the exact same, the depths doesnt have different regions like overworld so it just feels like a giant empty region, and theres not much to do besides activating roots in order to make traversing bearable. This game adds a lot, but its just quantity with no quality, no soul. It doenst even try to solve botw's problems, it just adds new ones, is such a wasted opportunity.

Remember in Halo 2 when you get to play as both the Chief and the Arbiter and you get to see the perspective from both sides? What if we did the same exact thing with Zelda? What if we had a game where you get to play half the game as Link and half the game as a monster? There could be a brand new species of enemies that both the Hylians and the monsters see as a threat and both sides come together to face a new threat and take it down. By the end of the game you can have both sides fighting together to stop this new threat of species from taking over everything. You might be asking yourself, what monster would we play as? Well, it would be a Lynel of course 😎🦁🔥 This is honestly just scratching the surface of it all but I thought it would be interesting to have Zelda do something similar to that of Halo 2 where you get to play as both sides and see the perspective of both sides in order to defeat a new threat of species that wants to take over everything.
