You want those things? Most of those aspects will be applied to the sequel to TotK I am creating called The Legend of Zelda - Awakening of the Five Tribes, where Link is sent to the lands of Astoltia after being defeated by the Demon Cultist Razerburn in a body of one of Astoltia’s various races. AotFT is a mix of TotK and Dragon Quest X, a popular MMORPG from Japan and exclusive to Japan. AotFT will also have two expansions, one allowing Link and Zelda to explore the worlds of past Zelda games, and the other to explore certain worlds in the Dragon Quest series, notably Dragon Quest IX. Think of these expansions as Zelda versions of the Hidden Treasures of Area Zero from Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, but with monsters created by Akira Toriyama, may be rest in peace.

I think I would rather Link stayed mute. I don’t need another Link saying, “Well excuuuse me Princess.”
@GreenOfFieldsАй бұрын
Agreed. Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword, and the original Jak and Daxter all showed how to do a mute character. The Links (and Jak) never say a word in those games but through expression and body language react to everything going on: determination when faced with an enemy, confusion at left-field revelations, bashfulness when flirted with.
@a.jthomas6132Ай бұрын
Link doesn't have to be like his 80's cartoon counterpart. He needs to be his own character who can be silent if he wants, not mute. But can speak a little if he choose to because he feels silences himself is the best way to not be overwhelm with the heavy burden as a hero.
@WhiteFangofWarАй бұрын
@@GreenOfFields Exactly. Twilight Princess and especially Wind Waker Link were both very expressive and were able to convey a lot without saying a word. Let the player imagine what they would say in that situation, as that will always be better than whatever dialogue is written.

Link has never been actually mute and referencing a cartoon from 30 years ago back when the series had no idea what it was is hardly a logical reason to set standards for today's games that have advanced far beyond that. I really despise that the Zelda developer talked about traditional Zelda games in a way he was shoving them aside and saying we can now never go back to linear Zelda… I love the approach of BOTW and TOTK, but they were experiments, they’ve changed a lot and rightly so, but it doesn’t mean we have to abandon traditional Zelda.
@theterribleclaw4285Ай бұрын
I know a way where both fans can have Traditional Zelda and Open World Zelda, with modern technology Nintendo could easily make a Traditional Zelda Game in a very short time since they would be smaller titles and not take too long compared to the Open World Games, so fans get those while still waiting for the next big Open World Zelda Game it's really that simple it's like Aonuma doesn't want both Fans of the Franchise to be happy.

I don't want to be forced to collect crap weapons and prioritize them by "which I don't mind breaking first." I want legendary swords and hammers and stuff like that: stuff that feels heroic. I've been wanting and predicting this for years... I imagine a story taking place in a smaller realm like an island or something similar in scale to more classic depictions of Hyrule, but with EXTREME attention to detail. Then players could marvel as they are introduced to the magic that reduces their size, hopefully in multiple stages throughout the story (like... adult, child, cat, mouse, bug...?) as the world expands immensely, not just in a simple measure from one end to the other, but in the depth and creativity of the new, tiny areas that become accessible, literally everywhere. The end result could be something that carries the feel of both a "classic" dungeon crawler in the over-world where Link is still caught up in a quest to protect the land and the "big people" that he knows and loves, but that also transforms into, and intertwines with, a world more grand and intricate than any we've yet seen, where players can spend countless hours fighting insects and bouncing around on flowers and retrieving stolen keys from rodents living under the floorboards, not to mention the new creatures and even races that would likely be apart of the tiny, hidden world. The possibilities for puzzles and addictive mechanics in an open map where you can change size at will is insane and near limitless. I honestly do believe and almost guarantee that they will bring that same mechanic to the 3D titles in the near future. Here's hoping.

Some good thoughts in this video! Something to remember is that BOTW was developed for the Wii U, then ported to the switch. TOTK was developed for the Switch - but by the time it came out, it wasn't really a new platform. At all. BOTW was full-on experimentation, seeing what they could do with the Zelda franchise in an open world format. TOTK was an effort to maximize that as much as possible, adding creative abilities and vertical depth to an already large map. There's a new platform coming out - one which undoubtedly will have much better hardware and overall capability. A lot of the limitations - be they actual or subjective - of BOTW and TOTK will be gone. I fully believe that Nintendo *wanted* to have traditional dungeons, but they had to focus on one or the other. Not both. Well, now they'll have the history to pull from with classic games, all the experiences of the open world ones, AND a brand new console to run it from. Nobody knows what the story will be, but I fully anticipate a VERY large world with crazy exploration methods we can't imagine yet, more in-depth character interactions, maybe even multiple endings, on top of dungeons, new enemies, new items/weapons and a very involved story. BOTW/TOTK were basically, "Okay let's see what we can do" - now they know, they know it worked, so now it's "Hold my beer" time. Whatever we get, it's gonna be good. 🙂
@KoenvdW88Ай бұрын
Nah, Aonuma was really clear - he didn't like the dungeons anymore, as well as any form of linearity. To be fair, that man has been running Zelda into the ground since MM.
@Siper2Ай бұрын
@KoenvdW88 I'd say that's a hard argument to make, considering how many millions of copies of BOTW and TOTK have sold. Most games have gone to open world formats - they're trying to keep the franchise alive. One can still change to survive, while keeping elements of the past alive. That's exactly what they did.
@illuminated_crownАй бұрын
@KoenvdW88 he's right the dungeons was a TIRED format. It's only all these new zelda players calling for it back. Open air is much better. More freedom. Not so much commitment to one dungeon/temple. This time, I just want them to focus on that story, Enemy variety, more interesting things to collect, weapons.

Since Nintendo is now open with Zelda being fully playable, I got an idea for a new 3D Zelda game. It's one that can be played both in single player and co-op that features both Link and Zelda travelling together on a quest to save Hyrule. Kinda like Sprit Tracks but Zelda is not a spirit and is fully playable as much as Link. I also thought of Zelda having ninja skills like Shiek in the Super Smash Bros games to make her gameplay unique from Link's. Plus this idea can incorporate some of the ideas mentioned din this video like having a thriving community, more unique dungeons and giving characters like Link and Zelda more depth.

Love this!!! This video literally names everything I didn't like about BOTW / TOKT. I particularly agree with the dungeons critique, the new "temples" just feel like larger shrines. I wouldnt mind another open world game, as long as some of the areas remain unaccessible until Link has progressed far enough in the game (ie. by beating dungeons / bosses and obtaining new items). I also really don't like that you can just go fight Ganon right after finishing the tutorials, that kind of makes the entire games seem somewhat pointless. I hope with all my heart that Nintendo pays attention to this :)

It's fine if we have a highe variety of breakable weapons but give us a sword that doesn't break and can be upgraded as you progress the story (Basically what the master sword was like in most games). 3. Remove the voiced/dubbed dialogues (and definitely don't give voice to Link). They just didn't feel right in a Zelda game. I miss the strange sounds and small sentences/words (beetle 😎). 4. Green tunic from the start. Come on, it's Link! It's cool that you can have multiple pices of equipment but the tunic HAS to be there right from the start and have a meaning (academy uniform, soldier, hero's tunic or whatever background you want to give it). 5. Want to see more of the 3 goddesses and the triforce. Zelda is getting a bit too monotheistic with Hylia since skyward sword. 6. Both Zelda and Link as playable characters - Link trapped in the sacred realm seeking the triforce, developing the physics engine so he navigates a zero-G environment with localized gravity around floating chunks of land (bring in the hookshot early). Zelda is in Hyrule doing a more linear skill, spell, and item based progression questline that makes heavy use of her Sheikah guise. Every dungeon spans the two realms. Completing the dungeons and other pieces of the adventure requires switching back and forth between characters (or maybe even multiplayer?). There's my pitch

7:52 Very much this. It's weird because I always considered 3D Zeldas to be pretty easy until Breath of the Wild, which I have yet to complete in part due to how insanely hard everything hits you even with top-grade armor. Compare that to the toughest enemy in any other 3D Zelda- the Ironknuckle- hitting for 5 hearts, while most lategame foes in BOTW take off much more, including numerous one-hit kills. Need to establish some middle ground here. - How about a class role system similar to Majora's Mask? Allow Link to switch his costume between a Thief class for sneaking, Magician class for magic, Warrior for fighting, etc., and have one of the rewards be something that levels up one class of your choice to gain a new ability in that role. And like with Majora's Mask characters would treat you differently based on your class.

More about the Goddesses. I wholeheartedly agree about magic (meter). Triforce. I grew up with topview games but I think it can still be done in a modern way. Sure I liked that plasticky toy look but a mix of both can work. I really do want true dungeons. LttP-style hookshot. I don’t know why Link is always perceived as mute when he has dialogue options with NPCs but he just ignores the princess? Speaking of which if her father, the King died, wouldn’t she then be coronated to the Throne. So maybe Queen Zelda and Consort Link. They travel to the other kingdoms around the world when a new foe did global damage and they must help fix. Or something.

meeting actual characters that had the triforce triangles on each hand in TOTK and BOTW that was never shown. example in twilight princess, when Link transforms into a wolf there was a split sec cutscene of the Tri force of courage shown on his hand and was glowing, only Zelda had that happen to her during one of the memory flashbacks in BOTW. I miss petting and picking up the dogs and cats in the games but that doesn't happen in the newer ones... I'm glad they got rid of the spider enemies those always creeped me out.

Open world like totk but traditional dungeons. The side adventures are awesome and should be the standard quality of side quests. Put back some of the collectithon elements like poes, bugs, etc but make them reasonable not 1000 korok seeds. Land sea and air should all be open to explore, and throw in a fishing rod and a decent fishing minigame. Let us have our own house that we can build (not just prefab squares we push together), and play the game after beating it. I wanna be able to celebrate with the characters we grow with, and has been something the Zelda series should've done even if it's just like an instance of an epilogue similar to baldurs gate 3

The next Zelda game should have a duel story Where it jumps between you playing as Link, working out why the twilight is coming back as the Twlight mirror is missing so he leaves hyrule to go find it. While also playing as Dark Link trying to take over the realm and spreading the corruption and twilight to a certain mountian that if the corruption access it, it awaken the return of Zant. When playing as Link its a traditional Zelda experience, but when playing as Dark Link, it's more of a devil may cry-esque experience where your goal is to take down the realms 5 region leaders to corrupt the region in twilight. There can be 2-3 Endings Dark Link Ending Link Ending Zant Ending

My wish is: - forcet Online Co-Op - buying rupys with real money - 7 more in game currencys - non skipable commercial for dating apps while you fight a boss - 100% crappy touchscreen gameplay - daily challanges like "start the game" - random social media comments - pop ups that ask me every 5 minutes for a 5 star vote in the eShop

Not every game can work with the Botw and Totk style that the games established. We do need more traditional dungeons, the Shrines and maybe more compelling and longer stories. Tbh the other features I don't mind possibly returning. Just because it was a perfect blend of fun and challenge to ask you, how will you do it.

NEVER BRING UP A FLESHED OUT, TALKING LINK AGAIN! IT IS PURE BLASPHEMY AND A TABOO IN THE GAMING SPACE.😤 What a terrible take....🤦🏼♂️What crazy talk! Now that we got that out of the way, here is what should be added or changed from a looong time fan of the series: 1. Have Zelda be a playable character in a 3d open world Hyrule setting alongside Link for choice. 2. Bring back secret areas like "A Link to The Past" and "Ocarina of Time". 3. Revisit older characters from the series like Flute Boy, skull kid and others. 4. Add more aesthetic OST's to the game. 5. Get rid of breakable weapons; ToTK would have been perfect without that mechanic and saved on file space. 6. Bring back the Sage Realms 7. Make more biomes and have them be more pronounced like the Kokiri Forest. 8. Possibly make an MMORPG based in Hyrule, with species classes to choose from. 9. Give Link his ability to swim freely back again (don't know why they removed that mechanic). 10. Bring magic wielding back in full force.

story being the totk/botw map is 1/16th of the total map and incorporating the entire lore from the other franchise to be included in the mastermap. awakening map/island can be part of the sea map. we already have the sky islands map. then include skyward sword in another 1/16th. 3 sections being sky, hyrule, and chasm made it hard enough. cant see why not make it a bit longer and harder. if this is the last zelda better make it grander and a perfect swan song that will have the elements of the other lores.

If they never go back to the traditional linear games in the 3D format then, it would be great if they make them in the 2D format (like they did with Link’s Awakening and the new Zelda one).

Hyrule is quite perfect for zelda to stay in, it has been reworked many times and it still works. There is a lot of items variety. The only thing i can really get behind is traditional dungeons or atleast more satisfying dungeons, shrines of temples it all felt too easy.

Since Penn and Sidon’s wife Yona is from a foreign land outside of Hyrule and Kass is missing in TOTK, my hope for the next Zelda game is we get to see Link, Zelda and the sages (Sidon, Yunobo, Riju, and Tulin) travel by sea to adventure in islands, lands and kingdoms with different monarchs and races. I’m sure Zelda would geek out about it since she is fascinated in new discoveries. And it would addd in the property conclusion to her and Link’s story.

While BOTW and TOTK are ”Good Games” they aren’t Great ”Zelda Games”. It feels like a GIANT LEAPS BACKWARDS in terms of the Innovation the series kept adding the past 20-25 years each entry brought. It felt like another generic open world game slapped with a Zelda Paint job due to it lacking: • Story • Dungeons • Memorable Bosses/Mini-Bosses • Traditional Dungeon Items, Collectibles, and ETC
