It's worth noting that in First Light's lore there's a mention of Korilfiend's influence affecting monsters, hence the red megalodaunt, who're said to have been exposed to Korilfiend's 'vents'. This could mean that the enemies we see there could actually be altered and 'mutated' versions of the overworld enemies, though I honestly think that would be kinda lazy unless they made them insanely unique. I feel like the Layer 3 boss could be a dragon. They breathe fire, right? That would be cool. Maybe a vent-exposed dread serpent? (If there are more than 1 in lore- I don't exactly know how they work since the original dread serpent was the mad steward.) Also, in the dialogue with the Nestmind, it says that humans misunderstand what layers are 'This is what you mice might call a layer... though your kind seems to misunderstand that which lies outside of its cage, thinking it ordered, sequential...' So this would probably explain how Pleeksty got into layer 3 without going through the eternal gale, I like to assume that layers are just different dimensions- but I have no clue.

I believe one of the dialogues of the Nestmind when you do the visionshaper oath implies that the layers of the depths are not necessarily consecutive or able to be numbered based on their depth, that they are, similarly to the place where the Nestmind is, kind of like different dimensions, but not entirely.

When I started deepwoken, I saw that it has references to hell, not so many, but due to the fact that the depths are capable, I began to think about Dante's hell in which the first layer would be limbo, where souls without faith are left without However, there are souls that have managed to get out of limbo and reach paradise, a clear reference to when you leave the depths towards the external world, then there is layer 2 in which souls are punished by storms and strong winds. This leaves a lot to think about the future capable ones that will get into deepwoken because you can clearly see the references or at least I see them that way.

one cool idea i have is that you go to layer 3 through the help of the ignition union. when you go down, there is a reinforced metal base. Here you can cool off, and once cooled, continue to explore the layer the ignition union is known for technology, and warding off heat would be something they probably could specalize in. Id love to see that be created

This idea might sound kind of bad but, I think it would be cool is there was a point of no return somewhere in the depths. Like in made in abyss (Deepwoken big inspiration) there is a point where you cannot return if you go past the 5th layer as trying to return will kill you or take your humanity. So maybe past layer 3 or 4 there could be the point of no return where you cant go back up. But in return in this layer the song is extremely prominent or something, allowing you to surpass your limits and reach power 30.

I think, an open world kind of area with its own unique rewards and an escape a bit like the trial of one would be very good, like a test of strength against very powerful enemies. Or maybe that could be a quest to unbound your level cap. Or even make the level cap change completely unique to layer 3 and so if you leave you feel little connection and it snaps or disappears. There's lots of good and challenging things to do, but I think that making it NOT repetitive, way more of a challenge and any player can do it regardless of what the build is specialised for should be the devs' top priority

I'd say 99% they are going to add a faction down there such as The Divers (how could they not), the Ignition Union as the voidzone in the miners landing HAS to be layer 3 entrance since its fiery and has closed off vaults in its lower sections. Not to mention Layer 3 according to Archmage is accessed by the overworld. More evidence sorta showing the Ignition Union would be in layer 3 is well, firstly, how else do they get endless heat power and ignition (They harvest power from the depths and canonically use the layer 2 winds to send energy up to the Union as stated by a layer 2 Union NPC in the Union base), secondly, why would the super hot place they draw energy from in the miners landing be a voidzone which drags your soul down to the depths?

@@mat7258 Yh you're right about npcs making sense but only rogues do (and a layer 3 faction only as well composed of randoms who accidentally fell to layer 3 via the overworld). The only diver we know of within layer 3 is Pleeksty who shortly disappeared after passing on his teachings of flamecharm to others. Also, to my knowledge, layer 3 isn't even known by anyone in deepwoken (apart from characters who haven't be revealed yet and maybe the ministry); all the information we have on it comes from dev statements within the deepwoken discord. The summer company also obtain and utilise thermal energy through their generators so maybe the ignition union could of done the same as well.

I remember reading somewhere that yun'shul's body is somewhere deep down in the layers of the depths. So it's not possible for us to entirely skip all the way down there. Second of all, the statue in that room represents a safer way for us to communicate through him, or his avatar. Since when we interact with it, it states we hear a pounding in our head, so we already feel pain through talking to his avatar.

For a boss idea, we know that there is something called korilfiends garden and at that garden you can find meteor flowers that pleeksty ate. And assuming this garden is at the palace, a boss idea i could be think of would be a guardian type entity thats sole purpose is to guard the palace and garden to prevent another deepwoken from being born. I hope that the third layer is high risk and reward. Even more so than layer 2 (no deepdrill/light hook). If becoming deepwoken is presumably out of the question then maybe a way to get a bell upgrade or other sort of instruments (since im pretty sure they exist in lore). Or more advanced murmurs or a way to strength or get the other mumur variants. Also remember that lore and game mechanics are not the same, so maybe if you get deepwoken then your power cap is increased to 25 or 30 and you get a new power or something.

Rewards could be uncapped levels, but extra levels not main levels, something like 20 (+5). They could make it so theres minibosses in layer 3 you could kill to gain each extra power. Lore wise it’d be you kill a powerful mob who was guarding and in contact with klorifiend’s lingering aura, and after you beat them you’ll be able to get in contact with these auras as well giving you slight power boost. Each power can give you base stat increase and maybe 1 talent. Base stat as in base hp base posture base ether etc. and upon reaching max extra lv armorous could be somewhere in layer 3 offering to help us go beyond our potential (lv 6 mantra if we have 100 in said stat). And well if you’re silentheart ig he can give you +1 base dmg or something.

about enivroment: i guess heat will be a more seriuos than frostbite(but reverse) in rogue lineage, i think player will just literally boil or ether/song will burn to death from inside so player will die too(cuz L3 is not physical or atleast dont goes right after(i mean floor by floor each one under another) ). To prevent this we need probably seek core's of the enemy's that can be crafted in some kind of oil or anything else that can conduct heat more effective, so having more time for explore and find the spot where we can probably recover ourselves by draining heat with something(machine or magic stuff whatever) about map: ask AI about mobs: i think mostly all of them will be have concept of lava serpent from rogue lineage( fat rock skin, slow asf, and ability to manipulate flame) but there also must be exceptions like skinny enemy's that would be fried literally, but they feels fine with it also flamecharm is one of the favorites magics among devs ngl, so probably flamecharmers can get 1-2 talents that are minor, but change is huge(and i think is stupid make reqs like CHA and etc for that imagine all 40-50 WILL and 75-80-100 FLAME massively jumping in water from etris inn right after verse 3 update)

Seeing as how the Divers are affiliated with the authority and receive funding from them it is likely Pleetsky went through the central luminant to the vents/layer 3. The central luminant is rumored to be the next luminant and next big updated. It would makes sense if we travel there and go into the vents through the divers at the Markor Citadel. Then we'd encounter strong authority members within the Vents and they would have tools to cool us off similar to the Ignition Union is Layer 2.

I think a good idea could be that while you are inside the third layer you will slowly take damage from the drowned god’s flames if you don’t have a certain talent, you could probably gain this from one of the ice guy’s in layer 2 floor 2 there is actually an unused ice guy at the start of floor 2 if you go to the left at the start he will just be sitting there and you can talk to him. So maybe if you killed ethiron previously he could give you the talent to be protected against the third layer’s flames.

I think layer 3 should be connected more to the ignition union as it fits better. Pleektsy managed to descend into the 3rd layer from Lumen so I think there should be a klaris-like npc in the voidzone of miner’s landing that lets you use their “new and improved” deep drill, allowing you to tunnel into the 3rd layer. It should be a hellish landscape, similar to what hell looks like in Bleach: The Hell Verse, and instead of hazardous wind that blows you away, it should be thick clouds of pyroclastic clouds that erupt from the ground. however, the 3rd layer shouldnt be a dungeon and more of a map like Schyphozia, with less player count because it should have some sort of requirement to get into. The mobs should consist of buffed red sharkos, as well as new and unique magma/fire enemies like the lava serpent from rogue lineage, or DRAGONS. (dragons would be sick) the boss of the 3rd layer should act as the way to escape obviously, and guards the garden in the palace which has a less potent varient of the meteorite flower, which lets you uncap your level to 25-30. I think the boss should be a dragon, hydra or some sort of magma golem/guardian.

i think a good power up is probs a imbuement of some sorts maybe even different types for your stats strength agility fortitude you get the idea but in deepwokens gruesome way would be cool if you were plundged in lava for a couple of minutes would make u stronger idk but its a idea

Layers are not in order we just name them in order or something there's more lore somewhere, I think it's from the kyrsguards in layer 2 floor 1

They aren't meant to be in order (like accessing l3 directly through the overworld) but some of them are (accessing l2 through l1)

I think players could become deepwoken after beating layer 3, but then be restricted to the central luminent with harder mobs and obviously more advanced players
