"If you pay cash no tax or it's cheaper" is a scam artists popular line. Used to work for shady locksmiths and they always wanted cash, or a 150+ bill for an easy 30 second Lockpick job

A contractor gave me an estimate on a small job, and then a ranged estimate for an add-on detail that came up later. The total, with the high end of the add-on range, was $1900. I simply didn't consider that he might come in over both estimates. When all was said & done, he handed me an invoice for $1925 (and that was fair). I said "Oh... my bad, I only have $1900 in cash." He said "Actual cash? Ok - let me see that invoice for a minute." 😁

PSA: If there’s an issue with the spring don’t try to fix it yourself- those things have an insane amount of force behind them and can kill you pretty much instantly. Always hire a professional for that. People unnecessarily die like this every year because they try to fix their garage springs all the time. Be careful, stay safe.

It’s amazing people will literally just hijack your money, under the guise of being a professional trying to help you. This is why when you find a great repair/plumbing/electrical/auto repair/etc company: reward them with your business and QUIT beating them up over price! When you can trust someone to do the RIGHT thing and charge a fair rate: help them stay successful!
@AbcAbc-sp1od3 жыл бұрын
@Ray Myers, This is an excellent point! I'm a repair man myself. I have always done honest work, at lower rates than the big guys. But if a customer starts to nickel and dime me, or hassle me about my fee, I stop answering their calls. Go hassle the company that over charges you.
@raymyers7003 жыл бұрын
@@AbcAbc-sp1od Honestly...I think some buyers never learn that. They think it's 'smart' to save as much of their money as possible and I understand that. But do I want a professional like you or do I want someone that takes forever, doesn't show up, does a D- job...just so I can try to beat them up on price and feel smart? I think 'smart' is getting real value. And the litmus test on that is if I'm in a real bind and I can trust you to offer real advice: that trust is everything. Pay the man or woman and keep them successful or you will be left with nothing but sharks and nothing done right!
