After a comment from a "short" video that the method of using fire to bring a bumpers finish back didn't work, I decided that I wanted to know for myself and share along with anyone who wants to know. First video of this style so I will hopefully improve soon. Hope you enjoy, As bad as I didn't want to I had to do part one/two of this test. Thanks for understanding.

It's stuff like this what makes Project Farm's channel so big. You're definitely covering all the bases on content man. Between the trail rides, turning wrenches, and yours and Justin's personalities and yalls vibe there's no reason in the world this channel won't blow up. I'm pulling for you, buddy.

Finished this video and walked out side and did my 2010 mustang! Thanks for the test and inspiration! Looks so much better now! Took me maybe 30 min to do both side skirts and the rear bumper. Cost me free dollars and free cents!

Also, I’d like to see your heat methods. Gas and electric. How far do you go? When is enough? If a bit is good, is bit more better? If I stop too soon am I missing out? I absolutely appreciate your efforts!

I do 2 stages. First stage is a large head brass brush with a 1:1 mix of water and dish soap. Not Dawn, it’s actually too harsh. The all natural, plant based stuff works best. It’s just a lubricant against too much abrasion with the brush. This gets the oxidized layer off without destroying the texture they put on the plastic from the factory. 2-3 passes of that and THEN some heat to just barely soften the surface, again without distorting or melting the texture off of the plastic. After that you can try some applications that are more for UV and oxidation protection, rather than something that tries to fill the voids in the oxidized layer to produce a simulated shine or smooth surface.

Clear coat works the best. Sprayed my fender flares 10 years ago and they still look half decent. Just a light coat of sem rattle can clear and they'll look new for a long time. The texture of the plastic keeps it from looking to shiny. Plus you don't get oily residue or oil streaks when it rains. And it's rain proof. Clear is just all around the best

I take a small torch and go over the plastic on my Jeep. An after I torch it I use some spray foam and go with it

Any of the gels, sprays, or aerosols are always going to be temporary. The flame looks good but it’s hard to do well and you run the risk of bubbling your plastic like dex did in a couple spots. Ive tried them all and I will only use: Sem bumper coater 39103. It’s a spray paint, and it comes out in the perfect finish every time and lasts for years. Just my 2 cents.

Problem with the heat/fire is eventually baking all of the moisture out of the plastic. At that point it become all chalk.

Watched this last week and was interested. Then after blowing a tranny line on my 05 Tahoe this weekend. I tell you what. I don't know how it'll last or what damage it'll do, but that tranny fluid even beats the fire... lol😂 bumpers, inner fenders, and the step looks brand new...

I've been using the Meguiar's for a few years. Not brave enough to use the flame. Maybe a combo of heat and Meguiar's might be the ticket? I've heard that peanut butter works. Thinking that would attract too many varmints. Heard lots of good stuff about CERAKOTE but it is the most expensive.

Welp - in Ol California(northern where there ain’t no queers n such)we know when plastics are done - theyz done - but ‘paint’ can be clever if done right - also take some of ‘them there’ products and apply with a scotch bright - it will change your life - but only in a circular motion. Carry on Dex !
