Not sure if there would be enough force to get over the 3rd inversion after the break run, if it came to a stop for whatever reason.

I think people are overhyping the T-rex. All it is their future track design for 2 seat wide trains, just like Intamin/Vekoma/etc all have their track designs for that. It can get to 500ft, but I imagine most major manufacturers could do that if someone was willing to pay for it. The problem is cost. The few stratacoasters in existence already cost a massive amount to make and they barely actually do anything - a 400/500ft coaster that actually had a significant layout would end up being 8000+ft in length, and that with the tall supports would end up costing way more than any normal park could afford. The only real chance is if it were in a big new project like Qiddiya. I’d expect the first T-rex coasters to be 100-200ft tall, either with a similar layout style to their hybrid coasters, or even a multi-launch.

Agree. Also; to add to the overhype. what is the last mega coaster built that really hits? Fury 325. Ok; Orion; more recent…floaty and forgettable? Nobody really is blown away by it after the initial honeymoon. Millennium has continued to fall in peoples list as it’s bland and drawn out, but people forget how freaking FAST it was compared to other rides at that time. The wheel size for instance was noticeable to a non-enthusiast like me. Maverick; Lightning Rod; Voyage; etc. Low to ground; unique layouts; memorable.

Totally agreed. This is the most hyped up coaster model in the whole industry. They said it could go up to 500 ft… not that it would. I’d say they’ll have heights of 150-250 feet on average, if any are ever built. The T-Rex isn’t even on their website as a product.

I still have hope for the 500’ TRex. There just needs to be a park with the terrain suitable to make it a terrain coaster with no point of the coaster being 300’ above the ground in order to be financially and structurally feasible. Think like the Quarry area at SFOT with a lot of mixed elevation.

Float vs Force - Is there an intersection where height and speed actually reduces the overall experience? Diminishing returns. For example; Jersey Devil should review better than the Protos, but enthusiasts don’t like it as it’s bland in comparison. In my opine it’s the force not float. When I see these T Rex: I see the same thing. You lose speed feel because of the single rail. Say vs Millennium that has the box Intiman track that gives your brain a feel for speed. Thus float not force. These feel visually floaty and not forceful.

I feel like the gravity was off for some reason. It looks as if there is a trim on every drop and a launch on every incline. Not sure why that is, but I think it would be super awesome if that was fixed!

Rumor has it that Cedar Fair is working on an Orient Express 2.0 for Worlds of Fun. Probably won't happen for another decade, but we can always hope. Imagine a T-rex Orient Express!!!

I honestly think more parks want to see more raptors before they invest in the T-Rex models. But the again, any park would love to have bragging rights as being the FIRST to have one! It would definitely be draw people in!

Does anyone have any idea how fast a 500 foot coaster would go? Already the 90MPH coasters (gigas) feel like they are going fast.
@Fluffy_Coasters

i used a converter and it said 122 mph for a 500 food drop, but depending on other things it could be any where from 118-125

Somewhere around 120mph depending on angle of decent, speed exiting the lift hill, and how heavy the trains are

I think enthusiasts need to stay out of the RMC trash cans. They are simply not going to waste any resources on any future development unless someone (park/chain) partnered with them to develop and build one. There have been 10 complete circuit, non-launching coasters over 200' that have opened or been sold since 2016. That's not including B&M Dive Coasters or RMC conversions, but does include Zadra since it was a ground up project. Surely RMC should have been considered for some of these for a T-Rex if they had something to sell. The closest thing was probably the RMC rumors at Kennywood prior to Steel Curtain's announcement. That would have been the perfect chance for them to debut the T-Rex if it were salable. They had a pretty small footprint to work with and it is inversion heavy and with Shilke protege Joe Draves being the lead designer, you can see the RMC influences. It's just too costly to build and it's still just a concept. I think RMC is more committed to closing in on the 300' mark with the I-Box track and truss structure. If they were serious about developing the T-rex wouldn't it make sense to reverse the left and right I-box track and develop a new train with outside guide wheels (wheel bogies). The train is the biggest complaint with the current I-box coasters so they're due for a redesign (perhaps an overhead lap bar?). Then if a project lended itself to needing to span a large distance such as a parking lot or lake, insert T-rex track for a i-box/ T-Rex hybrid. I'm not trying to be a hater. Believe me, nobody would be happier than me to see one of these in real life! I'm just trying to look at it realistically and quite frankly, my neck is getting a little soar from looking back at fifteen feet of track from 2015!

I don't think any park will build a T Rex. It will flop. The single rail now are not even that good. RMC hybrids and ground ups are far superior. Better airtime,, better trains. Unpopular opinion but single rail rides are not that good and capacity sucks. Twisted collosus is 10x better than WWGL or whatever they call the coaster hahahah and they're in the same park. Same goes for Iron Rattler and the single rail there. If Jersey Devil was a RMC hybrid or ground up bulkd it would be easy #1 in the park. Yet it's not because it's single rail and it's just boring. El Toro is a way better ride.

Slap some Orion type B&M trains on a single rail and you have the RMC T-Rex.
