I didn’t really pay attention to the fact that halo was taken over by 343. But I do remember I completely stopped playing once they did. Now I play infinite, and am starting to feel the same way…

I think gearbox would have been a real mixed bag. They are certainly capable of making a really fun and rich FPS experience. But on the other hand(s) they've had some oddities and I'm not sure Gearbox would have enough creative freedom to make their Halo shine. The Coalition could make a good Halo, but if I had to choose a second studio it would be Certain Affinity.

I think gearbox could have done it well. For example, Half-Life: Opposing Force was a pretty good addition to the Half-Life timeline. If they were allowed to do the same with Halo, idk. Maybe we could see them try to introduce Race X there as well. God, a crossover between HL and Halo would be epic.

Halo never should have been a live service . Halo first and foremost is a fun party game. This over focus on competitive is taking out all the fun Gone are all the community features like pre and post game lobbies, working theater and forge modes. Missing options and playlists and having cosmetics tied behind a crappy fartnite styled battle pass paywall! Instead of having those cosmetics earned by gameplay. The focus on everything other then halo. Wanting to change the core gameplay . I truly hate 343 for destroying this franchise. I'd rather halo disappear then have it's corpse continually beat by Bonnie Ross and co

It's funny to learn about something... critical to the story of halo. c-3 sabertooth did a vid on it recently, but here's the TLDR of his 1 hour video. Frank o'conner, is one of very few bungie employees who found work at 343, jumping ship while bungie finished halo reach. He is attributed to the didact and librarian terminal entries in halo 3, those that contradict the whole concept of humanity being the children of the forerunners, AS STATED BY THE GRAVEMIND, and guilty spark among others, by stating humanity existed before the forerunners found them. His is the only source that contradicts humanity being descendents or otherwise creations of the forerunners. he ended up in a position where he has a vast degree of creative control at 343... and thus it was his vision of halo that was carried forth. And from a lore perspective... caused so many of the issues I had with halo 4's campaign and beyond. Redesign the jackals? new subspecies, never before seen obviously. Redesign the elites, including arbiter? Clearly also the new subspecies, don't ask questions where the old ones went. completely change the design of chiefs armour and the wreck he was on in between games for no explainable reason or method? Oh, and the weapons found on board too? and the whole, if humans are not the creations of the forerunners, and thus, not a threat to the prophet's power, why did the covenant genocide humanity? I'll bet almost all of that can be attributed to the meddler that is frank o'conner.

I think at this point Halo 1, 2 and 3 is my most titles to play to this day. If I don’t have at least 20,000 hours or more played throughout there timelines I think it would be way more. Halo Reach was my final favourite halo title and it’s where I completely left the multiplayer but I loved Speedrun the game as well as doing goofy ideas with friends. To this day I’ve only ever played Halo 4 campaign once that I don’t even remember what the hell happens and never touched the MP. Halo 5 I played it for about an hour and when Halo infinite got announced I completely forgot that halo 5 existed and that 4 was there last title! That’s how much I’ve drifted away since bungie left it’s old titles. I still play the MCC occasionally, it’s the only title worth playing for me. I wish it was 2007/08 when I would finish school and hop on with friends till midnight on halo 3 doing custom maps, doing silly stuff on MP and 4 player coop where we would just do glitches constantly or we even used to compete against each other on who could get a better time on certain levels. That was the good old halo and honestly the series is dying the Longer it goes on.

As fun as this idea may be on a surface level, I feel like this whole shared universe/multiverse thing is on par with the whole "walking dead and breaking bad is in the same universe" or "fallout and elder scrolls are in the same universe" theory. You're taking something that's a subtle nod to something else(guns that look similar, armor that's similar, and other references like the pod) and assuming it's a connection, when in reality using occam's razor, it's really only just an Easter egg. I don't think there's much else to it, personally. Not to mention the world building is completely different in all of the Bungie games, coupled with the fact there's not a trace of human covenant war in destiny. Another thing to note with halo, with the Bungie titles, whatever happens in the games is canon, the books are only optional at best. Which is why halo reach deeply contradicts the fall of reach, because Bungie never saw the books as a reliable source.

If you really want to know a lot about Halo history look for a book called Ringworld is a 1970 science fiction novel by Larry Niven. Most of the Halo stories based off that book. And yes marathon is a early version of Halo. In fact you will even find marathon logos inside Halo content

I hope a Halo MMO does eventually come. It's cripplingly depressing that it was cancelled, and any time it's mentioned I get really sad and really, really angry. I'd hope tat it'd be similar to Star Trek Online with being able to choose a faction/side of the war to be on, choose your race from that faction and get your own ship, getting both space and ground battles and a super in-depth character creation and outfitting system. I'd love to be a Sagheili Fleetmaster with the Swords of Sangheilios that primarily operates as a contingency against the flood and fighting the civil war with the Storm Covenant.

It's just the blind hopium talking here but I'd love to see Bungie make one more Halo game for current gen / PC. The studio has changed a lot since the classic Halo days and it would be interesting to see what would come of it. I just want a COD style situation where COD fans basically get a complete mix of COD games year on year and people play the one they like. Halo is stuck in this rut right now and needs a fresh project management approach to how games are made moving forward.

Man poor bungie in that case. Bungie fucking hated both halo and microsoft basically since shipping halo 2. They wanted 3 to be the last game and then leave microsoft for good because of halos horrible development. They where then contractually bound to one more game (halo4) and the movie (which later became district 9) After the movie got cancled and turned into district 9, they made odst a fully featured game instead of a dlc, and because they didnt want to start a new story they made a prequel instead of halo 4. If microsoft would re aquire bungie, all their efforts to leave this shit show would have been for nothing, as they would have been dragged right back into hell You can see in interviews in h2 and h3 dev logs just how tired they are of the franchise and there was that one interview where one of the guys basically outlined how detrimental halo was to the developers mental health, social situations, marital status, romantic persuits and overall quality of life. And they're called management and the Greaselord himself, Randy Pitchford. A CEO that embezzles money into his company from another production, leaves his porn on a work USB and more can't do _any_ good. The devs would have probably all killed themselves by now, considering how BAD they wanted out of halo since halo 2. Halos development was horrible and its well documented how much bungie didnt want to make any other halo after halo 3, and how negative of an impact halos development and Microsofts iron fist had over their lives.

I really hated a lot of the 343 retcons. In the Bungieverse, humans ARE the Forerunners-343 Guilty Spark explicitly says so before his boss battle in 3-and a lot of the convoluted crap that came after (Precursors? Spare me) would have been avoided. I’d love to get back to that version of the Halo timeline. At least I wouldn’t feel like I need to read half a dozen novels and comic books to understand what’s going on in each new campaign.

okay so: around that time 343i was created, basically became the multi media manager of halo, they managed the halo legends anime thing for example, the books, etc etc after bungie left and this whole debacle, the keys were tossed to 343i to make the games

Honestly, no matter your opinion on Halo 4, 5, and Infinite... a Halo at the same quality level of Duke Nukem Forever would have killed the franchise perma dead. It would be a decade at least before a reboot was even talked about, and a sequel would have been off the table. No Halo Wars 2, no MCC, nothing.

Honestly if 343i wasn't an option I'm pretty sure Epic Games wouldn't be real. If Microsoft was actually smart back when Epic was an actual studio they should have given the OG gears devs both Microsoft IP's tbh. I highly doubt many would complain over Halo getting gorier. XD.

Really if they would've stuck to the halo 4 formula, I genuinely believe halo would've still been at heart and meaning. I mean, sure halo 4 isn't the best, it's still a good game though. Better than halo 5, and maybe infinite. It's story was actually emotional, and we'll, in my opinion perfect. Also, a bit of a rant, halo 4's my least favorite but still one of my favorite halo games. Deposite that, I still wish they made chiefs infinite armor atleast somewhat similar to his standard halo 4 armor. I just think it's wierd after humanity finding out how to make teleporters, their now designing soldier armor to be similar to a generation that's like, 20-30 years older. Like, why go through the trouble of making chief's armor similar to his old armor when you can either give him a completely new different armor or atleast change his previous (halo 4-5) armor a bit.
