Sweetheart you are so right. if only black women would wear their hair naturally we would save some money to invest and buy a home ... coop or otherwise. Black hair would grow. all the corners and temples would grow. And if you shave it all off and regrow it, we would be happy with the results. I have left the perm behind since 2007 and have gone natural. My 2 girls followed me and we all love it. And we don't braid either. You're on the right track.

Girl! I used to work in a Beauty supply store. And I actually witnessed the money they. KOREANS can make in a Day from US! One chick came Every two weeks spent $700. My ex boss turned to me and said; From her alone, My Daughter is Straight! And when I met the child of that mother one day. Wow! Her kid was busted. But mom had bundles, lashes Costume jewelry!

See that’s soo crazy! And can you imagine we think we’re doing them a favour? Being all hype to go fund someone else’s college fund, meanwhile home is falling apart. The years and years we’ve spent making other races rich is super sick. This is why we should share our stories more. It’s not a community if we own nothing it’s a project period. Their little experiment to see how much they can milk from us daily. Thank you so much for your comment love.🦋

I used to work at a beauty supply too in the early 2000’s! They make 🏦 bank off of us and believe it or not Caucasian’s too. My ex boss had all races coming in spending big dollars on hair, products, nail supply, costume jewelry, cheap clothes and shoes. It is the Kardashian culture that really heightened it even more. I can only imagine how much more money they make present day. I’m sure they are easily millionaires let alone billionaires from one store location alone.

Does this also include hair used for box braids? Which one is owned by black companies so we are not putting money in Asians pockets? Plus not every black woman can show off their natural hair because they are suffering from autoimmune/inflammatory alopecia. I’m personally going through this & I went natural for the sole purpose of wearing my hair out but can’t.

Thank you so much for you comment. There are always good reasons why a woman might cover her crown but that’s where the point of buying our own peoples hair came from. I mentioned if woman felt it necessary to wear another woman’s hair it should be our texture and from our heads instead of it being from a whole other races head. We don’t invest in Black hair enough to have the multiple options of our own hair extensions. Also just because a couple of companies seemed to be owned by our people doesn’t mean it is. When it comes to the levels of the company most of us don’t even know who manufactures the braiding hair, even Vivica Fox herself aids in the toxic hair community being as though Kanekalon hair is very toxic and causes cancer and other health issues over time. There are various ways we can improve the hair so it’s not toxic to our bodies. And braids are apart of our culture including braiding hair which we would replace, with a healthier type of hair, and would be the owners of the manufacturing companies that produce the fiber hair. Instead of having black woman on the face of the brand we would have our people at the head of those warehouses and ceos of those companies. We would be able to get jobs at these companies that represent our culture.

Hey same. My hair falls out in the same spots once a year. It's been happening for ten years now. The rest of my hair is long now but I still can't show it off for fear of an episode.I just stopped the excessive peeling two years ago. Now I'm tackling what makes my hair fall out. A lot of products formulated for us are inflammatory. I've narrowed down to strictly basic products from those Asian stores and plan to open my own bs as there are more black people coming to the area so they will be too.

How is going natural divesting from the hair industry? We still have to care for our natural hair; the product CHANGES, it doesn't become nonexistent.

I think this message is eluding to divesting from this processed, commercialized, chemically adhered part of the hair industry. Going natural still feeds into the hair industry as far as products, accessories, upkeep, yes; but not to the same extent it would if we were going back to kitchen stylists, having our aunties take care of a silk press, just learning where the products are from/the best price instead of hitting up the Asian ran stores in our hoods, or better yet-and conveyed-learning how to take care of our own hair. We wouldn’t have so much to review off AliExpress if we became the suppliers. Changing the players not necessarily changing the game.

Buying weave and products from people who don’t care about the community is the problem sis. Simple if you divest from businesses that are not black owned and do not come from a black manufacturer we benefit, we can choose to pour the black dollar back into the black community. Not once did I say we wouldn’t buy natural hair products. Hear yourself 😂😂 and I even said more of us would make natural hair products. Divesting from the “Toxic Eurocentric hair industry” is what I was talking about. Not defunding Black owned natural hair products. I explain this multiple times 😭, When we defund from the toxic hair industry we put the dollar back in black owned businesses and companies. Going natural and buying from Black businesses is what I am talking about. You don’t think being natural would change the choices we make with our hair products? cool. I get all my products from black woman and from black manufacturers period because we know what works best for our hair and I don’t invest a dollar into non-black hair companies. Maybe if you watched the video you wouldn’t be talking crazy.

My question was about the TITLE of the video, bc it isn't that specific. It literally is just "...divest from the hair industry", which includes products made by black-owned brands. That's what I didn't understand, and why I asked the question.
