Btw, white ppl do make fun of other white peoples skin tone. You know pale, ginger, slick (olive). Colorism might exist in every race.

I had a 57 yr old dark skinned co worker who told me she was bullied by non black boys at camp for being black. Fast forward 50 years she married a half black man because she does not like dark skin men and has a light skinned child. She says her daughter will not date black men. She constantly keeps trying to explain her daughters ethnicity. I keep telling her she doesn't have to keep explaining I understand. I told her that I have several mixed race ppl in my family and my brothers and sisters and some of my nieces are light skinned. She is always trying to bring her child into a conversation and nobody's even talking about her. She is always going into this like skin dark skin stuff about actors and actresses and I am glad that we are not friends anymore cuz I was tired of hearing it. I feel like she is too old to be so petty.

Barack Obama also has light skin privilege. He is a biracial man whom most of y'all decided was the first "black" President and would not have won if he looked like Wesley Snipes.

It’s also traumatizing to be fought, cut, and bullied because of your skin color. There is trauma on both sides.

So the fact that statistically speaking and regularly updated yearly. Dark skin black woman have a harder time getting a job unlike their light skin sisters. Have it worst with law enforcement. Studies show dark skin black woman almost always get sentenced to harsher prisons and more time. Oh and don’t get me started on the amount of neglect dark skin black woman face at the hospital. Girls didn’t like me for many reasons we can assume it’s because we are lighter but don’t you think that’s weird? And if you believe light skin girls trauma is worst than you clearly don’t know your history. So please fuck off my comment section you uneducated dick head.

Stop acting like if Light skin women and girls are oppressed too because y'all/they are NOT. Y'all want to be oppressed so bad Lol. Light skin women don't have it as bad as Dark skin black women do. Y'all aren't denied entry into places, not getting chosen, getting called aggressive, masculine and ugly and made fun of because of your skin color. Light skin women "trauma" is always talking about how dark skin girls bully them and fought them cuz they envy them. That's all y'all got ? What about when light skin girls and dark skin boys bully dark skin girls huh ??? There was literally a little dark skin black girl who took her own life because she was bullied so much in school over her dark skin color. Girl bye.

@@JadetheegoddessYou darker skinned Black Women who think this way are disgusting. Trauma is not a contest and this isn't the struggle Olympics some of you so desperately want it to be. Just look at how ignorant you're acting. No one even claimed the other's trauma was worse. It was simply stated LSW also experience trauma, which is true, and you immediately felt threatened. Honestly I'm not even surprised though because this is a reoccurring theme amongst DSBW. Y'all are so quick to get offended you don't possess the heart or the ears to listen yet you expect everyone else to cater to your pain. Sorry but not today sweetie. LSW do experience trauma because of their skin tone and it's usually at the hands of DSBW and that's why you're upset. Many of you find this odd sense of power in victimhood. This why you refuse to acknowledge the pain LSW have experienced at your hands. It's because deep down DSBW understand this would take them out of victim role and place then into the role of the perpetrator. DSBW cannot cope with the cognitive dissonance this creates because they have viewed themselves as victims for so long. However, the reality is y'all are huge HYPOCRITES. DSBW will claim they are treated unfairly in White Society due to their skintone yet will turn around and treat LSW unfairly due to theirs.

I don't disagree that this is an issue. The thing that I find interesting is that I have always been made to feel ashamed of being light skinned. In the environment I grew up in, I was made to feel as though dark skinned women were more favorable. It made me feel less black even though both of my parents are black. Also, I was pretty rough and tough as a kid thanks to my two older brothers. Please know that this does not apply to all light skinned women. I love all my sister's. Self love comes first. I've learned to love myself inspite of how my peers made me feel.

Okay I get where you're coming from especially as a light skinned, mixed person. BUT I'm sorry your statement doesn't exactly help anything. We're talking about colorism which greatly affects ppl darker. this isn't to say that your feelings aren't valid, but to acknowledge the difference in severity. There's a major difference between simply being questioned for your blackness or being made fun of for a socially desirable feature then being degraded, judged and dehumanized for something that is directly tied to racism and is deep-rooted. THOSE ARE TWO DIFFERENT EXPERIENCES.
@mojo.s46692 жыл бұрын
@Ed Thames Never did I state your experiences weren't valid nor did I imply that light-skins don't get bullied. What I did said is that there's a fundamental difference. Being targeted for having lighter skin is not the same as being targeted for dark-skin. Not only is Racism and Colorism a global problem there's a very clear difference in where the hatred is placed. Being darker skinned is far worse and impactful. This is simply the reality. Not only is bleaching a billion dollar industry it's normalized. And we as light-skinned people don't have to shame anyone to benefit from a very real reality. Even statistically darker skinned people(including other ethnicities) are less likely to get jobs, at higher risk of being arrested or accused and socially less desirable. And on top of that Light skin vs dark-skinned is a very systemic based issue in our community. Dark skinned people are heavily bullied, especially women, for a completely different and much severe reason. You can express your opinion without trying to inflate it and compare it to an entirely different and CLEARLY worse issue. When I was bullied for being light skinned it was things like "not being black enough", "looking feminine" and being uppity. Dark-skinned ppl are called dirty, ghetto, uneducated and monkeys more times then not. Most of the insults light-skin ppl receive is indirect praise for being closer to European/exotism appearances. And the insults we get most of the time are deeply rooted in envy, whereas the insults dark-skinned people get are deeply rooted in hatred.

Everyone needs to respect the truth of everyone else. Dark or light. Acknowledge that you don't understand what it's like to walk in the other's shoes and never will. In theory maybe but in your heart never. Victim mentality should have no place in the black community. Play with the cards you are dealt. You have no choice.

Some men may say that but that is their taste. I don’t know where you get your information but light skin girls get it bad because sometimes they don’t know where they belong. It’s people like you that have the insecurity that you are not pretty enough. How would you know what white girls talk about? I can tell you don’t hang out with them. You are just assuming. Nobody self hates just because they have a preference. You don’t determine who is black enough based on the shade. You are promoting segregation within the black shades. You need more years of experience before you talk about this. Black studies major students come out really racist and segregationist. Amanda Seales is the best example. Remy Ma tried to kill somebody she can’t get a small sentence.

It’s people like you who have no clue what your talking about I can talk about my people because I am black and I am light skin. Who tf are you to say I don’t have enough information when I been living this shit everyday of my life? I’ve seen the worst growing up. But the fact of the matter is I never said none of the shit your talking about. It’s weird that you would assume how I feel about myself I have a high self esteem weirdo. I want my sisters to have conversations like this so we can understand what trauma we’ve been facing for years. This was strictly to uplift my sisters not to promote separation but an understanding that some have it worst than others and to respect that fact and truth. You sound dumb fr fr and how tf am I promoting segregation? 😭😭😭Your slow clearly you didn’t even watch the whole point was to teach woman like myself that there are disadvantages with skin tone and who tf said anything about remy ma ? Weirdo
