It's weirdly refreshing to hear that remote customer service overseas is also a nightmare (...nightmea?). Having worked numerous jobs doing "face-to-face" customer service, the worst job I ever had was doing remote IT work for doctors. Holy hell. You cannot pay me enough to ever do a job like that again. At the very least it teaches you to be _extremely_ patient with people on the phone who are trying to help you and you can share war stories with others who worked help desk.

Like with most things, Japan has a tendency to produce some of the most dedicated and talented people no matter hobby we are talking about. It's not uncommon for some some to spend basically all their free time and lots of money on their hobby. Sadly this also includes hobbies like... complaining. There are seriously pro level complainers in Japan. People who will actively search for things to complain about, and it's not limited to customer service or straight up business related stuff like you'd normally think. You could be on your way to work on a hot day and later your boss calls you in for a talk. There has been a complaint about you. You start to worry, thinking about all work related things you might have f-ed up. As your boss continues it becomes apparent that it's something that happened this morning. Someone has reported that an employee, a foreigner, has behaved inappropriately during his commute, leaving you the only suspect. The company has already apologized on your behalf but other places may have forced you to write an official apology by yourself so you should be thankful. Your crime? Before getting on the train you bought some ice cream and then YOU ATE IT WHILE WALKING TO THE STATION! Eating while walking is not proper conduct and you are a representative of the company. But wait... You weren't wearing any company related clothes and it happened before you even got on the train. You realize that this person was so upset that they decided to get on the train with you and then follow you until you entered your office building. They then contacted the company to complain about your transgression. This isn't even an exaggeration. It might not be common but stuff like this really happens and some people avoid wearing company uniforms or logos outside of work hours just to decrease the risk of getting reported for bullshit. Sometimes you also get reported by coworkers for stuff that you do in your free time.

From what I've heard about Disney Land's employee practices, working there in any capacity seems like hell.
@PK_Scratch

Low pay in high cost living areas is a bad start. The recent changes in Disney parks have also increased the disgruntled customers and they also now allow alcohol at the theme park. You can see the recent influx of articles about bouts of violence at Disney. Edit: Mind you that's Disneyland in the US. No clue how it is in Japan.
@TheRatedOniChannel
@TheRatedOniChannel Жыл бұрын
@@PK_Scratch In Japan you can only buy alcohol in some of the parks, you can see an old clip of Gen 5 going to Disney Sea where Lamy got two beers (AKA, this is the moment where Drunk Lamy became a thing), when it comes to customer service, Disney Japan is probably the best, but also there is a lot of work because my god, I don't remember ever seeing trash or anything broken, or out of place; I think also the salaries are higher due to being considered full time jobs, but I don't have much info about that area.

Definitely agree with Mea, a job without meeting customers feels lonely. At least still better than call centre when it comes to complaints xD I would believe they would become professional comedians if they're not Vtubers 🤣🤣 Love how so many people really love to work in dreamland (Disneyland), until you get to hear from the people worked there... It's NightMea 😂

Sh*t! That one with Mea resonates with me so much. I didn't last on a Call Center job mainly because my sitmates (most of the time) ruins my concentration while waiting for a call. They'd talk to me, I'd talk to them. But while they're talking, I sometimes have to drop the conversation because I have to answer a call. It feels rude since I do it more than one time. It's definitely not a "them" problem, it's more of a "me" problem. And that's also the moment I realized I'd want a job: 1. Where I could talk to a customer physically. 2. Where there's little to no conversation at all. It might sound contradictory, but trust me, I've also had that same though. 🤣 If I work, let's say as a cashier, I can act friendly and can actually talk to people. (Since it's necessary for the job, so my mind immediately registers it as something I need to do more than I have to do, if that makes sense. 😅) Edit: I forgot to add the fact that I'm also considering the limit of my stamina. So I'd love to do anything that doesn't involve heavy work. I've tried working as a Construction worker once, and that's where I tested my stamina and see if I can do it. Sucks that I can't 'coz it seems like I can learn plenty of stuff from there. 😅

I used to work in a Call Center as an IT for a security company, basically I had to provide detailed instructions to customers on how to fix their own equipment. It was fucking hell, specially because the big majority of my customers were elderly people. Im a big introvert how hates even speaking through phone so it was really rough at the beginning but somehow I managed to not only get use to it but to become like really good at it. I stayed for two years and then I had to quit because I started to feel way to comfortable in a job I really hated (I still hate it, its the worst, dont try it at home kids)

Completely agree with Mea, the only reason I lasted in a call center for 2 years was because of my girlfriend, once she left the job I couldn't stand it for a week and I left.

Yeah NEVER do call center. Unless with specific accounts OR non voice ones, be it Chat or Email Support. Those are the decent accounts, but the ones to avoid are financial, telcos, retention are a big NOPES, Benefits are nice but not worth your mental health getting screwed over. Call center is usually the part where humans show they're true colors.
