i grew up to very devout mormon parents (not in the US, though), and when i came out, they said: 'you are our son, we love you and nothing will ever change that.' we've had our rough patches along the way, but overall they always put my happiness above their belief system. when i brought home my first boyfriend, my mom later hugged me with tears in her eyes, and said: 'i can truly see that you are happy.' i know i may be extremely lucky, but not all mormon parents/families are horrible.

Glad to know some Mormon families like that are out there. When my parents figured out I was a lesbian, they were very clear in saying it was wrong and they didn’t support me. Once I was 18 and had saved up a decent amount of money, I asked them “would you ever put me above Mormonism?” When they didn’t give a clear answer, they didn’t quickly say yes, I knew right then that I would never be worth more to them than their church. And so I moved out and never looked back.

If you come out and they don't accept you they weren't really your friends. And if your family doesn't accept you, to hell with them. Love is unconditional and love is blind. Your family should love you no matter what and if your friends are real friends they'll accept you too. When I came out as bi I was ready to pack and move to a different state, I thought everyone was gonna hate me but you know what? Nobody cared AT ALL! "Ok, and?" was basically the entire attitude towards it and I felt so relieved. Come out to your loved ones and close friends, chances are it won't make a difference but in the situation it does you can always go elsewhere. You'll be much less stressed being open. Best of luck if you decide to come out and if not, best wishes on the road ahead.

Ok I'm scrolling through the comments and I see all these people freaking out and saying hurtful things about Mormons. I have a story. My best friend is Mormon and last year almost everyone who knew he was Mormon would pick on him, call him names, come up to him and say to his face he is wrong, and I couldn't do anything about it because I kind of thought he was wrong too. But in May he invited me to a meeting, which I went to with him. I learned that all the myths that I heard at school were completely wrong, and that the main principle of the Mormon church is to love one another and respect their agency. I am now a convert and everyone in the comments saying these hurtful things, please attend a meeting or at least visit the website before you spread these rumors around even more.

I'm a 12 year Mormon girl I have always been taught to love and be kind to people no matter what race belifes or gay or not YOU ALWAYS treat some one with respect even if you don't agree with them. It's hard yes most people (Mormons) don't agree with this but my cousin is gay she's gone through some hard times with the church with people expecting her but she made that choice not her mom dad that is all her we all love her and her girlfriend they are amazing. I live in utah. Im not religous at all and i grew up around mormons. Majority of my friends are mormon. That's fucked up that people potray mormons like this. Im covered with tattoos and my friends never looked at me wrong. They arent super anti gay. Same sex marriage isnt what they believe but that doesnt mean they hate gay people. At 2:40 in the video, they make note that not all Mormons are like this, and give a celebrity example. I can understand if you’re frustrated by this portrayal, but most people are aware that the holy documents of the abrahamic religions are anti-homosexual. This isn’t meant to be an attack on Mormonism - it could be a Jewish family, or even an Islamic one. Though, by the same logic, not all Jews or Muslims are homophobic like this.

I grew up in the mormon faith and i can agree that this is not a good portrayal because they're often worse. Its different for every region, but all "acceptance" (if you even get that) is fake. I had 2 different friends who their parents told them they would rather they (their child) be dead than gay/trans. That quote came from 1 of the 12. Look at oaks talk in the last conference and tell me that he "wasn't like this". Look up the CES letter, wash your hands of it. You may be better than this, not the church. Don't let them make you think you are the church.

@@caroline.567 the difference between mormonism and most religions is that mormonism does have a definite dogma. Each Mormon church teaches from the same curriculum. Every year they have a month of just "marriage" lessons where they strictly and clearly denounce same sex marriage. There a many many different kinds of jewish or muslim sects, but mormonism mostly juat had 2. Fundamentalists (polygamy) and the "lds" church (most mormons). I didn't grow up fundamentalist, so i don't know their views, but one of the 12 (leaders of the church) of the LDS church said that you would be better off if your son were dead than gay.

WildePaw The Fox Genderfluid is another type of being trans. Most people who are trans identify as the opposite gender they are born as. Genderfluid people have a gender identity that changes. Sometimes I identify as a female, other times I identify as nonbinary (not male or female), sometimes I identify as a male, and sometimes I identify as both male and female. Every genderfluid person is different when it comes to how their gender fluctuates and how they chose to identify. I hope this helps you understand a bit better!
