The thing I love about the x100v as a travel camera is that it will take images how I remember them. Not great in terms of the suitability for all times, but it terms of capturing the moment it is 10/10, and it’s easy for everyone to use if you pass it to friends.

I went to Dubrovnik last summer with my family. It was an amazing trip! I brought along my Fuji x100F plus a GoPro. I have many photos similar to yours from some of the same locations. One of my highlights was going on a kayak tour of the waterfront area around the Palace. After circling around the Palace, we then paddled out to that little island nearby for lunch and a swim. Overall, we had a great trip. Looks like you did, too!

Your comment about the limitations of the 23mm FL, Fuji do have adapter lenses for 18mm (28mmFF) and 33mm(50mmFF). They add a bit of weight but do work fairly well if you had a sling bag to carry them around.

Great video and one of my favourite locations. Interesting point you raised about a fixed lens camera and travel photography as this is my delimna every time I go on a trip. I love the minimalism of a single lens / single camera but know I have to take a small mirrorless camera + zoom + prime combo in order to maximise photo opportunities. Limiting my camera bag to a 6 litre is also one way to reduce gear.
@makmak69L75 ай бұрын
Thank you very much Roman for this amazing video and the very nice picture you took in Croatia. I agree with you that 35mm focal length is limiting. I’ve visited Dubrovnik before and I confirm that this city requires a standard zoom lens (equivalent of 24-70mm f2.8). For those who only shoots with primes, then 28mm and 50mm will cover most of the scenarios.

Regarding focal length, I find 40MP + the effective 32mm and 46mm crops are good enough if you are willing to be flexible with your photography. I was previously shooting a Canon M6 with some ultrafast normal lenses and a collection of wide to ultra-wides primes. Managing lenses takes space and time, not ideal for in the moment photography while traveling when photography isn't the primary purpose of the travel. I spent six weeks in Japan shortly after receiving my X100vi. While there were plenty of times when I would have liked a wider or longer lens I was usually able to find a creative way to compose a very interesting image within the limits of the camera. A possible solution is to buy one of the ILC Fuji bodies and a single Fuji zoom lens. I'm enjoying the X100vi enough that I may wait for the next generation of Fujis before taking that step.

Some lovely images and the X100VI is a very capable compact solution. But I agree with what you said about having something a bit wider and something longer for a tighter crop too. For travel my setup is an X-Pro3, 16 f2.8, 23 f2 and a 50 f2 (24, 35, 75 in ff terms). Where's the X-Pro4 Fujifilm? 🙂

I've got an earlier version of the lens and i do really like it. The problem is at £1,600 for the latest version, it is a seriously expensive point and shoot camera as you say. The thing is Fuji persuade us all we need it, but 95% of us would be better off with a lower spec version at about half the price, or in reality an x-t-- body. I'm sure I'm not alone in that I have used the nd filter a couple of times, the ovf basically never.
