What year is my Honda motorcycle? Identifying when my Honda S65 was made (as accurate as possible)

Hey Everyone!
Episode #2 here in the "rideable restoration" project that I have underway on my Honda S65. In this video, I show the location of the only identifier for the year of manufacture of my motorcycle. As this is a motorcycle with an 11 digit VIN number, there is no way (that I know of) to accurately decode the VIN or cross reference to a database.
Here are the two links (among a few others I checked) which pointed me to this information. Still, I had no idea where the tag was supposed to be!

Don’t they have a serial # stamped on the engine cases and stamped on the frame as well? My 1964 cub has a serial on the frame by the engine mounts. The serial has a range of bikes. For example serials 1-50142 are the first year, 50143-102314 are the second year, etc. those numbers are not correct btw but you can accurately tell the year and guess the month based on how far in the range your serial is?

Michel… I see a marking that says M6 0269…. Does this mean February of 69? I suppose that only tells when the light was made, but assuming it’s original….

@@DavesSmallEngines my 1972 honda cb has a 08/71 taillight and i'm pretty sure it's the original . just means they manufactured more lense then needed and used them up the following year

I had a S65 years ago. If I’m not mistaken the 65 stood for the date. 1965 one year only.
