That little wooden box looks like a salt box . My grandparents house had one hanging near the stove .they date to when salt was sold in papper bags and they were conveniently placed to add a pinch of salt .❤

Hey there Julie...I have a Vintage Clear Glass Bowl that is currently my Centerpiece on my dining room table...it's full of Murano Glass fruits and Vegetables. They are beautiful. My husband was helping a man clean out a house a couple years back and he was going to throw it all in the fire he had built. I'm so happy my Honey brought them home. Love the basket...we all have imperfections...cracks, breaks, stories, history.. and as for me...several wrinkles that no longer iron out, but..we still have value to those who love us...just like the basket. Hi Julie, I hope you and your family are well. My mom had a canister set when I was young that matched the recipe box. I recently was given a bread box from the same set. (You would love it) They all have eagle! Did you know that Homer Laughlin makes Fiesta ware? It is almost all lead free, this is why I buy it. Love and blessings to your precious family.

I have seen salt boxes that look just like that but they were not made out of wood they just set it on the back of the stove and reach in and get a pinch and salt the food when they’re cooking

I lined my picnic basket with the liner just smaller than the interior of the basket so that when you fill the basket with whatever, there won't be any weight on the bottom of the basket it will be on the lining,. Hope this makes sense.

I have the Longaberger picnic basket. If it is a longaberger the yr and initials of the maker are on the bottom. Mine was made in 1993. I bought it new. I bought the plastic protector and red and white fabric liner. I have a.longaberger recipe box withe wooden lid and plastic protector and garden splendid liner. My basket was made in 1997. They were expensive. I thrift them all the time and have them all over the house now. I probably have 30 to 40. I went thrifting today. Brings me happiness😌

Hi Julie. That vintage picnic basket was a steal! One of the reasons I like you so much is you think like I do. You think about the imperfections being just lovingly used and the history behind it. That's like me. The basket has had a mysterious life of being used. I hope I explained that well. YOU CAN USE LEMON ON THE EAGLE TO CLEAN IT TO MAKE IT SHINE , THEN ANTIQ IT WITH A LITTLE BLACK PAINT MIX WITH WATER DAP IT ON AND THEN WIPE IT OFF FOR A STAIN LOOK

I love watching your video's. I had that recipe box in the early 80's mine also had the little nails to hold the cover on ( the recipe box was older then ) , the cover would slide off easily . I also have a old picnic basket ,(I believe I bought it for $3.99 ) like that , that I picked up like 10 years ago , I love it , I put plastic plates , glasses , bowls and silverware in it , so all I have to do is wash them put food in the basket and go as well as bringing my throw blankets for picnics

Julie, did you know that Homer Laughlin makes Fiesta dishes? What's not to love about Fiesta? 😂 All the uppity- ups on KZbin have Brooklinen sheets and duvet covers. The curtains are a good find. Love the basket.

Well, Julie, Homer Laughlin used to make Fiesta. In 2020 they sold the Homer Laughlin name to a British company. I have my mom's collection of Fiesta in the original five colors that are "calmer" than the new colors. Quite the treasures now. Didn't want to mislead you. I learned something today too.

I really love the basket and wow what a deal!! I've been looking for one forever but when I do they are far and few and more than I want to spend. My grandma had one she brought to the family reunion every year. My aunt ended up with it. I thought for sure you hauled that scarf with the beautiful green. The color was perfect!! Love watching you thrift! I was happy to hear that if something is broken like that box with the top unattached, they gave you a discount. At my Goodwill one of the managers said she couldn't sell me a dress that I chose at 75% off (that was the color of the day for 75% off) because the little hole where the tag hangs from was a little distressed. Well, people handle all the tags to look at the prices, so I was very hurt for such unkindness. She offered to sell it to me at regular price.

A friend & I went to an estate sale this morning (turned out to be a hike into a complex that they were keeping cars out of, but the walk was reminiscent of some of the exotic cruises we've been on, so was a magical destination. Bought a few things, but the home had been a vacation home, so everything was either destination souvenirs, or utilitarian, so neither of us bought much.) Then we went to a yard sale (bought a few things as well) but the very 1st thing that caught my eye was a small basket that had some pretty pink faux flowers on both sides! I picked it up & thought of you, but wasn't my taste, so left it!

Marlene peters- i love the little pillow. I have so many pillows and baskets and throws; that my family says i should open a thrift store. I love them to much to part with them. I love the basket!! It’s just like the one my parents had and I inherited😂 it has some worn areas too because it was loved and used! Great deal on the curtains! I would have gotten the new throw/blanket that was there too, I live in maine never have enough of those😂 And I love the little bowls!!! So cute! Pillow would have made it home with me too! That 1970's recipe box with the eagle is awesome! I do love the little pillow. Yes, paint that wall white and use the sheers. I think that would look great. Homer L stuff is pricey and well made. Great picnic basket for sure. You did great!

Hello Julie.. wonderful thrift haul!! The recipe box is amazing..My Grandma Bea had the wooden square cookie jar to match that piece . It had the eagle on the front just like it..she always had cookies in it , and my favorites were the iced lemon cookies from the store and the windmill cookies with sliced almonds. Oh how I love those memories. I now wonder if she had the recipe box to and i just didnt notice it as a child . God Bless and have a wonderful weekend .
