This is the first Vlog i came across among many regarding Portugal properties where you have presented in this price range several properties with Pros and Cons and an honest opinion. My hats off to you for the excellent time and effort that you put into this Vlog. I am from the US, and have been looking at Portugal which is big time in the news among US Expats. Though i can invest in higher price ranged properties, i have been wanting to test the concept of living away from home and spending this amount is not an issue at all. My goal is to see most of Europe and having a place you call your own in the region to come back to is nice rather than hunting for a Air BnB every time. So an investment in this price range is a good starting point with least financial impact and may be after 1/2 years can move up to a bigger place once decided or leave this as a rental property. This video has been immensely useful and Algarve as I hear is one of the popular places and sure this has been a Big Eye opener. I Must complement you for your excellent communication and presentation skills and even realtors or sales people in the US are no where near your caliber. Thank you again. Subscribed to your channel and will be watching your other price range vlogs too.

Thank you again for such kind words, especially since this is not my job (I am an accountant) and real estate is just a passion of mine! Thank you also for describing your plans and how Americans feel about Portugal. We can also in Europe get a sense that Portugal is a big deal for Americans. :) Regarding buying a smaller property and then sell it in a few years, I would advise against it (again not being in the business - just a as person who bought an apartment). The reason is the very large taxes you have to pay when you buy but also when you sell. I have a video about property taxes, maybe it would be useful to you. But do factor in these costs, as they are big in Portugal.

Sorry small correction…from Portimão to Faro’s Airport you just need 1h using the highway (google even says a bit less than 1h). If you don’t want to pay and use secondary roads it will take 1h 30 min.

Yes, at the time of the video, we were driving very slowly on winding country roads because of my fear of traveling in the car. Fast fwd present day: we only travel on the highway now and our life completely change! It is much safer than the other roads. 😅

Yes, I think these are all good for someone who is either single or a couple who want a holiday home or seasonal home. Even for a permenant residence or a first place just to get a foot into the Algarve and move up later when you have more money and know the area much better. Renting is the best solution if you are not decided - in my opinion - but I understand how it is to want to have your own home.

Yes we do have lovely weather,beautiful beaches,good produce,land space,however,when you reach my age and need Senior Care Centres,you realise that even one million dollars is not quite adequate in Australia. Many older retirees opt for retirement in Asia because of it’s low cost of living thus giving them a much better life style than in Australia. Bye for now.

Impartial and honest advice for buying property in Portugal - most of the estate agents there cannot be trusted, so be warned. Algarve is a lovely place to retire for pensioners - weather and people are fantastic; open spaces, beautiful beaches, clean environment, etc. And, not congested like Lisbon.
