@@jmdi2703 Liked the fact that they used the training for it aspect because I was interested in exercise at the time- my era- but that was also an aspect of attracting an audience. Mr Mitchum was more psychopathic. He seemed to be much more unstoppable and the physique fitted the time and the writing at that the character was big, less self conscious and unstoppable. Think some of this used some other real-life horrors (men) since the first film.

It's an astonishing film. I leaned about "Angelus Silesius" in this film, the Catholic Mystic he quotes. Hannibal Lecter introduced me to Marcus Aurelius, too. And when Kurtz quotes TS Elliot and the Golden Bough in Apocalypse Now. A really great movie will give you research that expands your mind.

If you ask most people, they will not define this as DeNiro's best work. I actually disagree. Neither is this on Scorsese's top 10 movie list. I disagree with this as well. Simply put, one person posting a clip does not make this appreciated or even remembered. Which is sad.

It's an homage to the original, meaning the whole film is a stylized exercise by Scorsese. The "goofy" way they're acting is intentional. Scorsese wanted the direction, the score, the acting, to be reminiscent of an old fashioned movie, just like the original. Doesn't make the movie any better or worse, but it might help to know that.
