My hope for Cobra Kai Season 6 when it's inevitably announced is bringing back Mike Barnes and giving him more to do. Don't get me wrong, I liked what I saw in Season 5 but I feel there's so much he could add to the story. Case in point, the Sekai Taikai, the biggest Karate Tournament in the world. Johnny & Daniel might have been regional champions but Barnes was such a fearsome NATIONAL champion that he earned the moniker "Karate's Bad Boy." If there is anyone who can prepare Johnny, Daniel, and Chozen for what's coming, it's him.

Some interesting things to add: the dojo logo Sato has from KKII and here is apparently a Goju Ryu logo (the IRL Okinawan Karate style founded by Chojun Miyagi, whose photo is again seen later). The sandbag training has them condition their fingertips with spear hand thrusts, old school training. Later, "the Silver Bullet" is actually based on a very old school Okinawan Karate fist with protruding fingers to thrust the smaller knuckles at soft body parts. In this case, it's the solar plexus.

Also During the Tery vs Daniel fight in the final episode, Daniel used traditional Karate techniques (most notably the Knee Block and the U-Punch) which circles back to Miyagi-Do being influenced by traditional Karate style Goju-Ryu with a mix of (modern Karate) Shotokan
@rcbmmines45792 жыл бұрын
@@rhenpenada2424 Yeah definitely caught that Yama Zuki (U punch/mountain punch). That and the block were definitely Goju in style. don’t really see any Shotokan as a Shoto Karateka myself. I am glad my prediction was correct, the one which was so important to me- Mike Barnes an enemy of Terry Silver and CK. Just not in the way I imagined it, it's so cool they flipped the script with him. I will say that I was sad for him about the store burning and that he lost his money. I felt him. Only in my dreams came across my mind, that we will see all 3 of Daniel's worst nightmares working together to take down the big bad. And it was brilliant! And in the end it was Mike to save Johnny's and Chozen's life. I was so afraid when Silver won I was like "Please Chozen don't die. Please you can't die!" And drunk Chozen was able to get the upper hand on sober Terry. Imagine if Chozen was at his best he would never lose. It proves what we already knew, although Chozen lost he is still the strongest beast in the franchise.

Good video. Though so many of these are early coincidences or stretches and not intended references.

I don't know if I have a favorite part as it all mostly worked for me. The only thing I took issue with was Mike not being more involved in the final battle. Mike Barnes was good this season & Sean Kanan was a welcome return, as was the biggest shocker for me: Jessica Andrews. She being Amanda's cousin & the one who set them up was a welcome surprise. I also like how she explained to Amanda that Terry Silver is that bad & helped her realize that Silver got in Daniel's head & never left. I also loved all the parallels. Thomas Ian Griffith killed it this season (as well as last season & KK Part III). With his mentoring Kenny, there appears to be a glimmer of goodness in him & had he not been led down the wrong path, he could have been just as honorable & good a sensei as Miyagi & now Chozen. Speaking of Chozen, his expanded role is also terrific. I like how the 3 KK villains became Daniel's allies/friends & they went to Terry's place together. Such a great series.

That scene with Jessica and Amanda was excellent. Watching as Amanda learns, no, this isn't just Daniel being obsessive and yes, the stakes are real was great.

What reminded me the most in the Sam Vs Cobra Sam fight is Dark Rey VS Rey fight scene from Star Wars the Rise of Skywalker.

Do you think Johnny fighting in an underground MMA tournament could also be an homage to the Shootfighter movies?

Also when Mike Barnes sells a Blue Suede can also reference in KKIII he raised the stakes on Daniel and Jessica for the Bonsai tree while the actual episode he raises the price on Chozen in buying the sofa.

I pulled this up on my playlist just so I could watch it. I just finished season 5 and was not disappointed! This is great content... After going to this video, holy crud I did not realize there were so many call backs... I don't know all of them were intentional but the story practically wrote themselves

When Kreese wanted Daniel to help with a lawyer, he doesn't want one of his greasy cousins Which I believe was a My Cousin Vinny reference where Macchio and his friend are accused of murder and his Cousin Vinny helps him

Daniel blue suit from the Prom can also looks like the blue suit Rocky was wearing when he was trying to get a job in Rocky 2.

I just realised that Johnny knocking the sensei into the wall making the tv fall down is a nod to season 1 episode 1 of cobra Kai when Johnny put the tv on the wrong wall

Episode 2 is also called Molé because Molé spelled with the line on the e is a type of Mexican sauce, which is also a reference to the bet Robby does.

I don't know how she'd get into the show, but if the epilogue of the whole thing is her and Daniel having a friendly fight, that'd be a pretty cool ending to me.

So you mentioned that "Survivor" is the band of the theme song of a karate kid movie, but it is also the band for "eye of the tiger" that the three "survivors" sing in the end of the episode

When kreese got “stabbed” ik it was fake bro😂😂, I loved the Johnny fight with the sensei’s , silver if not just fought he would have beat Daniel, but if chozen would have not looked away he could have defeated silver

Tbh I thought it was legit at first till I realised the guy who “stabbed” him was his little errand boy. He wouldn’t have even tried that if it wasn’t planned, as it clearly didn’t work before XD

I feel like when Daniel fought silver the second time and was doing the quicksilver method, I feel like they should’ve had Daniel do a leg sweep on silver for “a man can’t stand, he can’t fight” like how silver was teaching him how to sweep in KK3

Terry only wanted to toughen these kids up, and to have them win tournaments. (Well, in this show anyway lol), that's all. He even turned on John for not wanting this, but just "revenge for the past." That's really all, but yeah, he too was messed up inside, manipulative and abusive. It was Warfare to both of them, especially to Kreece, and also this time, WINNING it! He wasn't really like Kreece though, that just used the kids to hurt themselves and others just to make himself feel better.. and feel better about himself, and to have control over people and things he felt he never had over his life and experiences, as well as his flat out abuse cruelty deceptions gaslighting and manipulations, and also his using those kids to get only what he wanted.. and to strike out and extract vengeance on those he hated and was bitter against. Similar to Shredder from Tmnt 1990 actually. Kreece was an evil predatorial narcissistic man, and a hardened bitter angry grieving broken closed-down person inside. But, after showing the sad history of his earlier years, and of his tragic losses concerning his parents and his only love Betsy, of his getting severely bullied by peers, having to stand alone and fight for his own survival into adulthood, then his experiences with a brutal neglectful capitan in the army, and finally getting captured as a pow: tortured, beaten, harassed and mocked, deprived of shelter food water, then forced to fight and kill his own platoon members for some sick "entertainment" of their animalistic inhumane oppressors, before finally fighting back and escaping! We really do see what turned John into a fecking monster, as well as his best friend and loyal underling Terry! But I think too, that on top of his rage, depression, complex grief, vast guilt, terrible confusion, and his becoming hardened, bitter, numbed, shut-down, and his severe ocd and ptsd, I also believe he might have had some mental illness that was either there already but just made worse, or his past experiences just triggered inflammed and inflated it. Terry has also been damaged in this way emotionally and mentally due to having went through that hell in the army in Vietnam, struggling with ptsd, though he went and got help after the 3rd movie, after losing all and becoming a drunk, cutting off his ties with toxic captain Kreece.. a good note of reaching out and trying to get help on his part! Acknowledgement of the problems, acceptance of the situation, taking the responsibility and making the effort to change and get help and support, courage to face the Damage Fears Helplessness Vulnerability Griefs Confusions Anger Anxieties Stresses etc, to face accept and deal with these, and let it all go.. working through the thoughts memories perceptions emotions hurts ptsd, and finally facing bravely the people, the world, and the future on a fresh basis of now knowing who you are, with all that weights and burdens off of you, and with your head up instead. Deep Psychological, Mental, Emotional Behavioural Therapy and Healing, Physical Anger Management, Learning new healthy Coping Skills, and Discovery of your Triggers and all takes a lot of work, willingness, effort, courage, and years. Yet Kreece never got help till he was finally arrested in this series.. and by Terry himself of all people too! Lol! So these two are really tragic villains that we love to hate and fear but also feel very sorry over. Great Classic series this is! And I love Mike Barnes in this! Still fast on his feet, big like a line backer, and aggressive as hell! M. Barnes, another fiery explosive waiting to go off.. then resetting for another charge later at the right moment. Lol they should have given him a catch phrase like Chozen's "I am like gasoline.. Boom!" Like wtf?? Lol! 🤣 👍

Notice I said Terry, never addressed him as Silver, because he didn't turn into Silver till later on after trying to make peace with Daniel, so I believe that Daniel played a small part in his turning, as did Kreece's influence and kinda turning upon him later as well. Then the old Silver surfaced and returned. But with Daniel, I do think he was genuine doing that! He wanted to move on. He invested alot into that dogo then and now and wanted a winner. Not revenge! At least, Not yet anyway. See?? I used both Kreece and John here, because we see the character sliding back and forth between the two, eventually just softening up a bit and actually thinking about his actions and what he's caused as well as the consequences, and that frightened him! So as his coping mechanism, he pushed it inside and ignored it till he became quite dull to it, going back to Kreece again trying to avoid this accountability guilt and responsibility. Don't even think he's ever apologised to anyone! At least not that I'm aware of.

I just don't want both villains CONQUERED, I want both villains RESOLVED, and to make PEACE with not only their enemies Johnny and Daniel and old alliance Barnes, but also with themselves as well, before the show's ended. Its NOT enough we see them defeated and all, we NEED closure to all of this, and I HOPE these writers producers and directors see this reality as well, for that's the whole point of the series! And I hope we get it! That's my take on all this. Great show so far! 😁

There's technically nothing wrong with the overall basis of what cobra kai taught. "It's a hard devastating scarring life sometimes, an over-all hardened cruel dangerous and insecure world, so become wise and hard yourself, never a victim, never a slave, never a helpless prey, and never a fool." Kinda like Rocky here. The thing is that they themselves were far too messed up and took it WAY Too Far with it. Good idea, Bad execution.. a running theme in the show. The violent and damaged usually gravitate towards the martial arts like karate here.. or better, kickboxing, [real] wrestling, judo, and ju-jitsu (the 4 best over-all combo styles to learn), as a means to express themselves and develop a sense of pride reward accomplishment respect and approval, not only from others but for themselves as well. Plus, "fighting" is all they know. This harnesses an avenue for them to let out pent-up (often hidden very deep) bad toxic negative feelings thoughts perceptions and emotions, suppressed inside, as a release.. a type of self therapy.. like anger management. It's a known fact that "always right" "always on top" ocd perfectionist (of self and doing) narcissists use others for their own identity supply and ego, they use others as a means to feed off of, to control some type of "image," and to gain control and superiority while putting and keeping the other down "in their place." They study and target for their next victim. They're vampires literally. They see themselves in their projected victims too (their own hates fears hurts griefs flaws perceptions and weaknesses) and this is what drives them on into their thinking and behaviours. When Kreece started training the kids he saw them as extensions of himself, his identity superiority and control, which boosted his ego image and esteem. If they failed then he failed, and he was having NONE of that! Johnny is a good example of how when you're hurt alone down and damaged, that you really do attract or gravitate towards what is similar to you: oppression abuse neglect isolation puppeting and belittlement, gaslighting deception lying and manipulation. He looked up to Kreece which became a toxic relationship and co-dependence, because it fueled his own identity image and ego in turn. Victims Often Turn Abusers, Prey Often Turn Predator.
