I love this. There's also a scene when Kanye walks into Jayz studio session and he starts rapping a verse that he thinks Jayz should put on his song it might have been "Never let me down". And when Jay z hears the verse he loves it and approves Kanye to have his verse on the song and Jayz says "closed mouths don't get fed, if he didn't say anything he wouldn't be on this song" and I feel like that was an important moment in the documentary because if you don't go for what you want its not gonna walk to you, you have to get up and get it.

I showed my mom the clip of kanye and his mom goofing around and talking and realized I hadn’t had that type of relationship with my mom since I was a kid. I started crying and told her I missed her, since my life has made it my family became second and my future became number one, I started to neglect them. We’re better than ever, and what’s funny is Kanye’s story is similar to mine, I was raised by a single mom intelligent teacher who was a Christian, who sat me down and made me read tons of books as a kid, always told me I could do anything with my life, she gave me confidence, wisdom and everything I needed. It’s true, the only person who will ever love you unconditionally forever is your mom, because you are her blood. Siblings can turn on eachother, uncles turn, dads turn.

I biked across America last year and when I decided to believe in myself, everything began to move into place to help me make that adventure happen. For that trip I didn’t ask very often for help but there were a whole lot of people who wanted to help anyways. Someone even drove over 6 hours to bring me a better bike. Like asking for help is overwhelming but people are out there willing to care if they know what is needed.

I thought it was fascinating how “sheepish” he looked throughout the entire episode. It’s encouraging to artists and creatives such as myself in these early stages. We can get insecure about how awkward we might feel on camera, or get nervous about how we stutter when talking business to other people in the industry. It’s crazy to see somebody at the top, who’s been at the top for years in that same awkward stage I’m in now
@youtubehandle-u2l2 жыл бұрын
I learned this from Muhammad Ali and studying Cus damato. You need to instill j yourself crazy beliefs like “I am the greatest rapper, imma be number 1.” And as you work hard for it, your experiences begin to reflect what you told yourself, and eventually what you told yourself becomes reality, your faith in yourself becomes confirmed as your experiences begin to Match what you told yourself. as long as you keep working for it. I was a shy kid growing up, and I listened to last call and what struck me was “Use my arrogance as a steam to power my dreams”, and “I love all your shit talking/you got nothing better to do with yourself/ I done proved it myself”. It’s pretty much pure creation, you willed yourself to become something and you willed yourself to go through all the pain/struggle/training to accomplish it, so it becomes yours. learn from other brothers, kanye learned too.

Great episode. The Kanye documentary should be taught in schools as a course on goal-setting, positive mental attitude, and visualizing exactly what you want and going for it. I really learned just how significant Donda was to him. In the doc, yes he still has a lil arrogance about him but he also was grounded as well. Multiple doors were shut but as we saw he still kept going w/o lil complaints. The humbleness was there and Donda had a big role on how he was. Then, he had the perfect balance just as Donda said, she was very vital. I also liked how much of a big fan she was to him. Most parents find it difficult to support their child’s dreams in certain/alternative professions as oppose to the usual, high earning jobs they would like their child to follow through. So it was refreshing to see how supportive she was, she even recited his old bars from school. All in all i was ver impressed w/ the first episode and im looking forward to the next ones. He really is a genius and learned a few lessons aswell🙌🏾👌🏾

The scene that really blew me away was the scene where he's chopping it up with Mos Def and someone asks if Mos can do the song Two Words. It seems impromptu (it later is a joint song with Mos, Kanye and Freeway) but Kanye hops on the flow and then starts spitting the truth. A lot of the original lyrics that make the record are there in that short clip. You can see Mos absolutely blown away by Kanye. And it's an MC looking at a producer going "shit, this guy raps better than me!" The equivalent is when a tiktok remix makes a song blow up or when a remix of a song boosts the original (Despacito, basically every Lil Nas X song, Taylor Swift Willow). In fact a lot of musicians now launch with the intent that someone will take their record and remix it into tiktok sounds, full remixes, duets or more. In that scene, we see a TikTok open verse duet challenge happen between Mos Def and Kanye and it crushes.

The genius behind jeen-yuhs is that in the first two episodes it captures Kanye being vulnerable and unfiltered pre-fame. But you see the change in episode 3, the guards are up, the vulnerability is gone. And although the third episode may not be as good as the first two, it's necessary to see the changes, the evolution of Kanye from pre-fame, to fame, to superstardom. And although it seems Kanye changed after he found fame, at his core he is essentially still the same.

It is bigger than a belief in what you've set out to do, it's having the belief that you are enough - as a whole. Once you know you are enough, the world opens up to you. You both knew youtube was right for you, so you pursued it with the knowledge that you would succeed. Of course, it takes immense determination and effort and time and development, but it's all possible when you know you are fully capable of doing what is needed to be done. I think a ton of people do not see that they are enough to the point where their aspirations and goals aren't made aware as they think it so improbable.
