Wow, finally a video where nearly everything was right. The only thing which you could improve is in the enclosure size. Its not anymore at 0.5m² but got up to 0.6m². So its now a minimum of 100x60cm or 120x50cm. And Roborowskis are more active then the other ones, so even if they are the smallest kind, they should even get above this minimum of enlosure size.

Hey we use the Kaytee Clean and Cozy Lavender scented small animal bedding is that okay for the material and the smell as well ?
@Omnomnom5311 күн бұрын
No, it’s very dangerous for hamsters any type of animal because the scent irratated the hamster lungs and can cause an upper respiratory infection (it’s like having to inhale really strong perfume 24/7, it’s not good for your lungs). Not only that, but lavender is used as a natural rodent repellent. For information, I would look at the rest of this KZbin channel, as well as the channels ‘ Victoria Raechel ‘ and ‘ SomethingAnimal ‘ also sorry for talking so much 😅 good luck on your hamster journey!

Hello can you tell me what type of wood do you use for made your enclosure ? Do you use varnish or paint ? Did you have any issu with a robo try to damage the enclosure ? Thanks !!! 🙂
@stefrose11 ай бұрын
Hello Yes sure. I used formaldehyde free mdf. I did not paint or treat in anyway but I did put a perspex sheet to fit the base so as to make easier to clean etc. No issues at all with my robo chewing or damaging it in any way. Robos are far less likely to do this than syrians. I hope this helps 😊

Hi! I see a lot about sprays, but I’m wondering if they’re necessary. I think I’d like to include it every once in a while if I got a hamster, but if it’s necessary I’ll obviously have it available at all times 🖤
@stefrose4 ай бұрын
@@helloitislucie4475Hi 😊 Not necessary as you can scatter feed but they are good for enrichment as your hamster will forage like they would in the wild 😊

Thank you for your comment 😊 I am so pleased it was helpful. Is the 40cm the height of the enclosure?
@Akomiimentioned11 ай бұрын
@@stefroseI think so!
@stefrose11 ай бұрын
As long as the actual floor space is 100x50cm a 40cm height should be alright provided you can provide deep enough bedding (30cm) without your robo being able to get out the top of the enclosure :) You will need to put lower bedding the side you want the wheel for e.g. and will need a lid such as a wooden lid with mesh so plenty of air can get in but your robo can't get out. I hope this helps. @@Akomiimentioned

Because this happened to me twice: you’ll want a water bottle & stand just in case. I had 1 senior hamster who stopped being able to stand up to the water dish & became dehydrated. I had another hamster lose his ability to move his hind legs & needed a water bottle instead. I got the Niteangel bottle & stand & noticed the water spout is wider than pet store water bottles. If my hamsters are younger & healthy, they get water dishes.

Thanks for your comment If Pearl ever struggles to sand up to the dish I will embed it so she can walk up to it and the water will be at her level.

Can i use wood shavings as a bedding? My hamster has been itching herself and sleeping always in a hide. Why does she do that?
@googleemail236811 ай бұрын
Aspen is a safe wooden bedding but paper bedding will be better if your hamster is itching herself. Your hamster is likely to be busy at night when it is dark and quiet. 😊
@stefrose11 ай бұрын
Yes as googleemail2368 says you can provide other bedding. Maybe try natural carefresh or similar? You say your hamster sleeps in a hide- if you add deep bedding 20-30cm they might burrow and sleep in their burrow. I hope this helps. Thanks for your comment😊

Can anyone explain please why they shouldn’t have a soft hide, my robo has a soft hide and I’m wondering will I take it out?
@stefrose6 ай бұрын
It is similar to fluffy bedding - there are a few reasons. One is that hamsters may chew the material/ shred it or take small bits of 'fluff' off it which can then be digested and worst case can cause intestinal blockages which are excruciating painful and result in death. Also the small fibers, depending on what they are, can cause respiratory issues - if the hamster wees in there, the build up of this can also cause respiratory issues and is unhygienic. If the fibers become loose, the hamster can get caught in them. It depends on the material as to which of these can be issues but it is just safer to avoid fabric. Thanks for watching the video and commenting 🐹

Can I use cotton wool as beeding for my robo?
@stefrose11 ай бұрын
Hey 😊 Thanks for your comment. Do you mean the fluffy bedding that has a cotton wool consistency? If so, that is very dangerous for hamsters and has been known to cause them a lot of pain and even death. If you don't mean that, can you explain more please so I can help?

Is it still ok to have the small enclosures bc my hamster is used to it
@stefrose11 ай бұрын
Hi Thanks for your comment :) It depends on the size. The minimum is 100cm x 50cm x 50cm. A hamster will happily move into a bigger enclosure and will no doubt be happier for it. If you're worried about your hamster being stressed by the move, you can make sure a new enclosure has some scents from the old enclosure that he/ she will recognise such as some of the old bedding for e.g. I hope this helps.
