You forgot to mention one can have a stroke with in 3 days of infusion Premedicate with steroid for first 3 days of therapy Use antiviral for 2 months after completion till cd4 lymphocytes are above 200 You basically have to take a whole day off of work because it's a 4-Hour infusion plus you have to be monitored for 2 hours post infusion

Diagnosed w/RRMS approximately 12/2007. Tysabri until 5/2015. Lemtrada 6/2015 due to progressing disability. Disability continues to progress. Would it have been worse if not on Lemtrada? Would it have been better to stay on Tysabri? Currently unknown...

I'm considering it quite seriously perhaps within 2022 or early 2023. I'm almost 30 have had MS half of my life, never took any DMT. I'm relatively healthy and have few MS symptoms despite dozens of lesions and only mild to moderate cognitive decline within multiple domains but no deep knollege loss or personality effect but some memory and argumentative language decline. Like words I dont use and skills I dont value do decline. It's not suprising to me. I think I'd have few to no side effects and no concern financially. There's an infusion center a mile from my house, I've managed to never work more than part time but I have a relative ton on money relative to my experiences and nearly free healthcare living in the good north central part of the US. The thing is, I've been thinking about it for a decade and I would much rather see a few max coinsurance years treating MS in two corses rather than a less effective therapy most likley with changes multiple times over the next 25 to 30 years. Lemtrada seems like the most eloquent route relative to what I've done. Kill off my immune system a few times and see what happens. I can take a year and greatly improve my physical health and run a bunch of tests first so I'm in the best place to face the trial and I might be able to get IVIG or steroids administered with lemtrada anyway to reduce the chance of side effects. If I happen to be having a rare symptom of MS perhaps instead of just doing a steroid course I could start this process as well.

@@Sbannmarie298 I did get Lemtrada. It was fine, no bad sideffects, almost zero cost too. I'll see how the second dose goes next year. So far no activity on MRIs no serious complications. It may end up as close to curative as possible.

I'm in nearly the same situation as you as far as disease progression goes. However, mavenclad has now been approved for MS and it acts in much the same way, but from what I understand there are less risks. I'm considering mavenclad as a treatment option.

Mavenclad ?

I'm considering that treatment. It seems to work similarly but has less risks

How does this infusion compare to Tysabri? It's an every 28 day infusion. There is a risk of developing PML which is a brain infection.
