Hybrids: Why have one good drivetrain when you can have two shitty ones.

Hybrids can be very well done to me. Your comment makes no sense. Internal combustion engines are well refined the benefits of hybrid for energy recovery are similar to EV energy recovery.

@@gregkramer5588 How many hybrids can tow like my V-8 or outperform my Tesla? In order to make hybrids profitably, the two drivetrains have to be smaller and cheaper; which pretty much translates to less capable.

@@billh2294Hybrids are strictly a transition vehicle between ICE and RV cars. It only makes sense if you MUST BUY NEW NOW. In the future, new EVs will be the better deal. The better choice if you have to buy now is a used ICE or used EV (depends on home charging situation and/or access to public charging)

Anyone who knows what they're talking about doesn't talk about "EVs having fewer parts" ... the conversation is about "fewer moving parts". Which is both quite and an important distinction.
@kylekleman
@kylekleman Күн бұрын
But which is easier to automate? A set of windings in an electric motor or a modern engine? Even battery packs are much easier to assemble the cells than combustion components. So while your point is true, fewer number of different unique part numbers does allow for easier automation.

About 2000 fewer parts than a pure ICE car and when you start adding hybrid, e-rev, and PHEV the parts count just keeps going up. It's also harder to do SDV/OTA with all that gear attached.

Why won’t you just say it? The consumer doesn’t want sub standard vehicles. Despite Musk’s antics Tesla is so far ahead in sales that legacy can’t even see their dust. I tried to diversify away from Tesla to a Genesis GV60 but their autonomous system disengaged without me knowing and I nearly went off the road. The sales lady was the best sales person I have dealt with in my life. She knew the software like the back of her hand. So she did her best. I tried the F150 lightning and the Mustang Mach E. In the end I went back to Tesla.

The answer to the question @42:00 is because the Honda Prologue comes with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, the lease deals are as low as $199/mo and the Honda looks more uniform and natural from a design standpoint. Once you sit in the Prologue you know right away it isn't a Honda btw.

There is a lot of cost takeout possible with EVs. The cost is at the peak and will never be that high again. As battery production ramps up and new kinds become available the pack cost will continue to go down. With 2000 fewer parts EVs have great automation potential on the production line and the battery can have power in it that would let the car do testing on it's self as it goes down the line. The more large castings are used the parts count will continue to fall as the parts could in tailpipe cars continue to go up with hybrid, E-Rev, and PHEV bridging the gap to achieve compliance.

The ABB representative doesn’t see the bigger picture for humanoid robots. The next wave of robots are direct replacements for human works with NO other capital investment. No more robot “cells” or limited use cobots. AMR’s are an intermediate step until there’s real “full self driving” for fork trucks. At that point there will be humanoid robots and full self driving material handling equipment. AMR’s still require a lot of supervision and interaction from humans unless the plant is a greenfield build intended for the AMR’s.
