Use the focus peaking built into the camera body rather than the peaking built into the eye piece. They're separately managed. The internal focus peaking settings won't highlight the start/stop.
@SpLitSecondS_5 жыл бұрын
EVF have internal peaking as i remumber. Just turn off peaking on front SDI output. Dedicated mic mount from BM pretty good.
@lensprotogo5 жыл бұрын
I want to have the peaking on though to pull focus from. Yeah I didn't realize they had one it does look pretty good and its fairly compact.
@gellert.ficzere5 жыл бұрын
@@lensprotogo I think he meant that the EVF has a separate peaking function, so you can disable focus peaking on the front SDI, and turn it on on the EVF. I don't know about that since I don't have the EVF. Other than that you can use the non-colored focus peaking as well which I like even more.

At 6:16 you tell that the peaking of the viewfinder is annoying because it peaks everything, BUT you have to set peaking in the menu of the camera, NOT at the menu of the viewfinder, then your problem is gone.

It took a while for BlackMagic to start delivering cameras on time and it will probably take more time for them to stop releasing alpha products, some of the issues you reported here is the reason that so many people don't go BlackMagic despite the specs and price, because you've got to compromise on reliability and function. Quality control issues, focus peaking the text and icons, things that are not practical, no illumination on the buttons, the little things, the details reveal that BlackMagic still has some homework to do. They need to fix these things for more people take them seriously, otherwise, it will always be about compromise.

The amount of recording options built into the camera makes it worth it for ENG jobs. Got a client that only needs HD? Boom! SD Card. Need 4.6K RAW? Boom CFast 2.0 or SSD.

Yes, same happens with the UM46k when shooting 120 FPS there is a significant we quality loss. Think is that the sensor read speed as a high bit rate and high FPS is just not possible with the hardware the camera currently has.

A lot of real world downsides explored here but dollar per dollar I don't know that there is a better value in this class. I talk myself out of it with clips like this, spend time looking at Reds and Arri then come back full circle to how much bang for the buck BMD packs into their equipment.
