I just received my security deposit back and the management company put my daughter's name, my name and my husband's name on the check. The problem is my credit union doesn't accept 3rd party checks. Not only that my daughter is in check systems so her name is mudd. Am I assed out of my money because she is irresponsible???

I just saw a video that in FL landlords can require a new security deposit when the tenant renews a lease each year 😮?!?!?!?!?

@@mikedunfeegroup I saw it on a FL news channel. From I understood of the story the tenant had already been in The same rental property for several years and only up until recently the landlord or the property management company asked for another security deposit. They stated that each time the lease ends even though she’s renewing it’s still considered a new lease and in Florida a new lease can ask for additional security deposit. The only reason I could see is a sneaky way to get tenants out and rent out the property for more money by making it financially impossible for the current tenants. I’ll see if I can link that new story.

Are security deposit refundable in California if a tenant exercised Cash For Keys????

Hi Lidu, I do not know for sure and recommend asking a real estate / eviction attorney for the best answer. I am thinking it would depend on the terms and reason for the “Cash For Keys”. If there was no damage and all rents were paid up to date then it seem like the full security deposit should go back to the tenant minus agreed to cleaning fees. Of course, many C4K agreements are drawn to end a less than perfect relationship. The best practice would be to have the specifics spelled out in the cash for keys agreement to eliminate any confusion. Thanks for watching and your question.
