I bought one a few months go and I must say that it is a very good bass. As you say, light, resonant and soooo easy to play even if it is a fretless... The sound is pleasant... Well, a very good purchase. Cheers from Switzerland.

I bought this. 9 years ago I got a eb-mm stingray double pickup bass unlined. With in 6 months pre amp stopped...and once I got it fixed I sold it because it never sounded how I thought it should...long story...anyway this bass is absolutely amazing. I love the ramp because I'm finally using 3 fingers. ..so it's like a new thing for me and I love it....the tuners are different but don't feel cheap to me...for such a simplistic knob set up you really get great tones all though the knob...mine is black just like in the video they come in 2 different wood tone colors too...but I like the black...it's not boring it's sleek...sounds great.

How much better is the GWB25thSWF vs. the GWB35? Because my purchase of the GWB35 is on backorder/has to be shipped to the dealer from IBANEZ, I am seriously considering upgrading to the GWB25thSWF since I have a few extra months waiting I can afford the extra $1000 for the GWB25thSWF. Can someone advise if the 25th Anniversary Bass is better for SLAP? How much better are the pickups and electronics in the 25th? Slapping the higher pitched strings on my current bass is so disappointing compared to my old 4-string IBANEZ SDR or SGR whatever SOUNDGEAR is labelled as. Should I go with the 25th anniversary bass for the extra $1000 is where I am at right now & I have to decide very soon, any advice is greatly appreciated. THANKS!! Derek Knight WESTERN CANADA

GWB105 replaced by the GWB1005 (made in JAPAN instead of KOREA), the price is now $1300 CDN for a GWB35. Seems like good value.

There's the sunburst GWB205 for 1500 (might be 2000 in US for some reason) which is what I have and there's the natural finish GWB1005 which is 4 grand and it's Gary's main bass.

Hey brother awesome review 👍, and I need to know about studying music and learning to read music, if a person cannot play by ear, should he or she go on and study music and learning to read music, or should they learn to play by ear first, cause I have been told over and over and over again, if you don't learn to play completely by ear first before studying music, you will never be able to play completely by ear at all, you will be chained to your music stand forever! I trying to figure this out! It's killing me not knowing what to do about it!? So I was wondering if you could help me out with it, thank you so much.

@@OnlineBassGuitar1 Thank you so much, I will take all this and learn learn learn, and practice and practice and play and play with some people to get better and better, hey do you still have your original fender p bass guitar, I have one also but it's a USA 1960 something remake, it's super nice, are you on Instagram or Facebook?

How's this bass compare to the Ibanez Portamento?

This is the same question I have. From what I've read, the GWB35 is perhaps built slightly better and the pickup and the preamp are better. But on the other hand, the SRF700 series offers you three pickups so you can dial in different sounds, an extended playing range, and you can swap out the magnetic pickups (whereas on the GWB instruments the pickup is specially designed and is hard to replace). Though with the GWB you can have roundwounds without since it's an ebony board, rounds on the SRF might not be so good since it's a neck-through.

@@jamcam9 cheers. Can't get my hands on the GWB anymore, so looks like it's the Portamento for me.

I recorded two songs with the Portamento. It's passive and has a rather dull tone. I was disappointed, and believe the Gary Willis bass is much better. My youtube channel: Vapors In Time. Song is Sprava.

You are aware that Jaco used rounds right? I think they bring a fretless to life and you get an even better growl..
