What you need to know before moving from San Francisco to Seattle

Good overall description of the Seattle area, but I think you got it wrong on the Seattle freeze. People in Seattle are definitely harder to get to know and friendships are much harder to establish than in other locations. I'm a NW native (East of the Cascades) and lived in Seattle and its burbs for 25 years. I made less friends in those 25 years than I did in the first year I lived in San Francisco. I travelled quite a bit early in my career and always made more friends while I was on the road than when I was home. I put it down to the Scandanavian roots of many Seattle natives, Scandanavians are fairly reserved and I just think that has trickled into the overall culture in Seattle. Just my opinion...

I appreciate your comment and perspective. I can certainly see how the reserved Scandinavian roots could bleed over to contributing to the "Seattle Freeze.
