It can be difficult to move to a new city - and especially a new country! Get some advice from these international citizens about moving to Copenhagen.

This is something I’ve been thinking about for a while. My Dansk isn’t too good, but if I go, I’ll be taking classes. It’s just been on my bucket list for a long time, and I’m getting sick of Canada aha

Is it easy to move to Denmark as a Canadian citizen?
@vilxonik
@vilxonik 5 жыл бұрын
@@ieatwiteoutforfun I believe so! I'm sure it'll be just mostly expensive, but I think under 35, we can get a travel visa. If being Canadian doesn't work, I have my Aussie citizenship as a backup.. I could use the excuse that I have the same hometown as the Princess too!

Phil you should have some level of danish before going. Anytime I go to København, i find my somewhat shit level of danish quite helpful, whether it’s reading signs or going to the shops. In shops, I have encoubtered foreign workers who speak much better danish than english, so my god awful level of danish back then helped a bit. I’ll be moving there in 3 years and I also have an important Danish exam to take when I finish school. Long story short, I recommend learning more Danish before you go, because it’ll make life easier. For some vocabulary, basic grammar etc i recommend the apps Duolingo, Memrise, Learn Danish and also HiNative (where you can ask danes questions about both life in Denmark and the Danish language. As well as other countries and languages) Good luck moving there, it’s been my dream for nearly 5 years now

@@foreigeanneamhspleach My god, your name xD I decided to go back to Australia for the time to help family - I'll visit there eventually! My knowledge of Dansk is still basic - hell, I could've become kinda fluent but I dipped out :(

@@vilxonik don’t worry, I’ve kinda been the same over the years. I’m still at a basic level. I started using a website called Danishclass101 and while it does cost money, it does give you a loaddddd of help with grammar, vocab and also everyday phrases. This is a sign: GO BECOME FLUENT IN DANISH! YOU CAN DO IT! Danish is such a beautiful language, and i know that the Danes are always happy to hear that someone is learning their language. I suggest, if you’re struggling, to just watch a few Danish series, like a crime series (I personally recommend “DNA” and “The Investigation”) I find that watching those helps me get even more used to the sound of Danish, so that I can then mimic the voices when I go to practise my pronunciation. Also there’s something really motivating about listening to the language and recognising just a few small words. Please please keep up learning Danish. You’ll get to Danmark eventually, so wouldn’t it be wayyyy better to go there as a fluent speaker.

You must be desperate. Seriously I wonder how many of these people cope without proficiency in Danish.

@@stevebbuk We nearly all speak fluent English. So you could use that until you learn Danish well enough.

@@GioEternity well, as it was mentioned in one of the replies, above, most Danes can speak English very well; however, if you are planning to live/reside in Denmark, you must, absolutely, learn how to speak Danish, enough, to be able to make your way in the society (without having to rely on English). Also, the latest immigration laws require that all the new applicants to the Danish citizenship must be, virtually, fluent/experts in their ability to speak Danish.
