I mean (in my own experience), a lot of Europeans are like that (the Danes, the Dutch, even the Irish, for the most part), you are only going to have a contact with them, in any meaningful way, if you are an active participant in the civic aspects of the society (which, not only, makes complete sense, but it shows, to them, that you are willing to integrate in their societies)!!
