Who was Bud Grant?
Bud is best known for serving as the head coach of the NFL's Minnesota Vikings for 18 seasons -- leading them to four Super Bowl appearances, 11 division titles, one league championship and three National Football Conference championships.
He's famously known for not letting his players have heaters on the sidelines during freezing temps & that's what you should know about Bud Grant.
Do you think that would fly in todays NFL?

Even though I am a lifelong Packer backer , I liked Bud Grant as a coach for the Vikings . We don't have coaches like him , Halas , or Landry and Lombardi anymore.

My favorite team growing up. My dad showed me his yearbook from college and I recall a photo of Bud playing basketball.

Bud Grant will always be the definition of class. I was very disappointed when they moved into the Metrodome in 1982. To me, the team lost a lot of its character. Their playing indoors was comparable to claiming that Leif Ericson and his pals sailed the North Atlantic in a Norwegian Cruise ship. If you're going to call yourselves the Vikings, remain outdoors and brave the elements. I really believe Coach Grant felt the same way. When he saw one of the ball boys wearing gloves, Coach Grant told him to take them off because he was part of the team, too. The speech that Joe Kapp made when he refused to accept the team's most valuable player award in 1969 is the greatest I've ever heard, and I do mean EVER, when he said there are 40 most valuable players on the Vikings. Every team should hear his speech at the beginning of every season to emphasize that "We are a team." I hurt deeply when I heard that Fran Tarkenton's father had died of a heart attack after the Cowboys upset the Vikings in the "Hail Mary Game" in 1975. His father's name was Dallas. Geez Louise. God bless the Vikings of the Bud Grant Era. I wish I had known all this a long time ago. Incidently, these comments came from a guy who was an avid Cowboys fan from 1967-1993. I apologize for the lengthy post, but this has been a powerful video.
