Hum I work as a jeweler and goldsmith and love my stones.. Opal can be worn by anyone, it is a myth started by one poorly sold Victorian novel on it being bad luck this also can be found in the USA.. go for it, it is beautiful. Peridot is pronounced like Peridough silent t on it and an alternative has been given for those not into the pretty lime/forest green is now Tanzanite. Tourmaline is also your national gemstone and can be found in California and in New England, both gem grade. Emeralds can be found in Connecticut, Montana, Nevada, North Carolina, and South Carolina. Another alternate stone for June is Moonstone and can also be found in lovely shades in the US. Stones for each month vary from era to era and from different countries so one can pick and choose or wear what your heart hums too :) Much love for your article~
