I’ve actually used player perception of Half-Orcs to my advantage. I was playing a Half-Orc War Cleric and for a while, he didn’t talk. The other players grew to assume that he was just stupid and only useful for hitting things. It came time that we were recruited to help plan a major battle and the main NPC that was there was throwing thinly veiled racism at my character. When it actually came time to strategize, my character busted out a perfect plan, using historical examples as reference and obscure strategies, and was very articulate and well spoken. What was his deal? His Goddess was The Red Knight, Goddess of Strategy and Tactics. The reason he didn’t talk was because he’s actually very shy.

@@marlinazul7786 I remember doing that with my human noble battlemaster. I think I had three feats at level 6? Regular humans being boring is more of an issue that their players are boring than their characters. Axel Drans Honestly that’s substantially closer to England during the Imperial Era than the USA, considering the US is the protectorate and a major peacekeeper to like half of the world now, and has major trade agreements with most of them, it even stabilized and rebuilt Japan well above what it used to be after WWII. Meanwhile Imperial England sought to overtake India, North Africa, Australia, the Caribbean, Japan and the Americas. Also there’s hundreds of countries that enslaved people, dark-skinned or not; Japan oppressed and enslaved the Philippines, China and Korea, England enslaved various groups of people for a long time, Eastern Canada held a multitude of indentured servants from Scotland and Ireland, African countries themselves enslaved their own people before they were sold to other countries, the US isn’t the only country that did that or even the first. Also idk where you get that idea about Trump, he can be an asshole but he’s not a dictator lol Illithids are probably the most like England or Japan back when they wanted to conquer everything under the sun but even then I don’t think we have a good irl comparison. Would be pretty awesome to have them though I’ll agree with that.

Eh with Tabaxi it's honestly none of the given reasons, mines just because I love to hear my DM go "YOU CAN MOVE HOW FAST?" Personal highest so far was about 4,200 ft in one round
@calibadgerdude60824 жыл бұрын
Heh. I have a tabaxi college of swords bard build I desperately want to play with sometime. She’s literally designed to get in, strike, and get out of melee range again without taking reflex hits... all from outside the standard movement range of most creatures in the game. Tabaxi have some insane movement abilities as a race, and couple that with some of the sword skills from the subclass... At level three, she has the potential to move about 100’ every other round, with standard movement of 45’ in between. I doubt she’d ever quite match yours’ speed (assuming monk?) but I like the idea of a lightning fast fencer. One of these days... one of these days

@@calibadgerdude6082 Well it's a heavy multiclass with a mix of 10 levels of monk, 5 barbarian path of the totem warrior with the Elk, 2 fighter and 2 wizard with the blade singer school . Obviously Mobile is a needed feat but it would need the boots of speed along with a haste spell effect for the higher end of speeds, forgot to mention the use of Longstrider. It's funny though as if I remember right someone managed to optimize speed so well they made a character reach orbital reentry speed (28,000 mph) though I think they used some kind of carry stacking for that effect

Also, if not everyone has native flying, you'll end up with something similar to the "Thief sneaks ahead" scenario. Namely, that the Aaracokra player will inevitably end up in deep crap, because they're on their own. Worse than the thieves of old, actually, because at least the party could conceivably run to where the thief was if they get discovered. Have fun rushing to the Aaracokra's rescue when they had to fly to get into trouble to begin with.

Real reason for picking human: "You like feats"
@demi-femme48214 жыл бұрын
That's only variant human, tho. If you pick regular human, you either want to powergame by abusing the +1 to everything, or you're boring.
@davidstratton6964 жыл бұрын
Nich White I seriously don’t understand y anyone would ever pick +1 to all stats over the variant human. I mean u really don’t need the +1 to your dump stats. As a variant human just pick resilient in con, wis, or dex (the 3 good saves) and u get 3 stats boosts and proficiency in a good save (or some other feat that could raise your an ability score by 1). And if your worried about more then 3 or your ability scores then your character is too mad (multiple ability dependent). U also get an extra skill proficiency on top of that as the variant. Regular humans suck.
@dominiklange83824 жыл бұрын
@@davidstratton696 resilient? I mean it's good, but for me variant human was always these people who know the game and used every advantage possible. Saying this as my DM allowed stat rolling and UA. *evil hand rubbing in INT 18 Level 1 variant human wizard with the Lucky feat.*
@davidstratton6964 жыл бұрын
@@dominiklange8382 Resilient is amazing what u mean? And if people wanna build their character a certain way but need a feat to do that (ie crossbow mastery) then they can get that at lv 1. Or maybe they could get a feat that’s more outside of combat (ie linguistic) and it would still be better then the crappy regular human. To me your just gimping yourself if your playing a regular human. And y u being such a hypocrite if u choose to play as a variant human and choose the lucky feat? I had a pure human named "Bob", they were monk, who's written backstory was "likes punching things alot". He would commonly not use ki altogether, in fact by the time I was level 2 I still didn't use Ki at all, making the others in the party question if I was actually a monk to begin with, or some random that just really likes punching things. This got to the point where whenever Bob did use Ki, it would often surprise the others in the party (in character of course). Bob then tragically died when he tried to fist fight a wizard, who instantly killed him. I rolled in a new character who wasn't as basic, and the rest of the party members referred to Bob as "that guy" from that point on.
