So I do think my ultimate ship is SoRiKai but I wanna elaborate. So as a kid and even an Adult I find SoKai to be both cute and Heartbreaking in KH1 but I legit think that when Sora finds Kairi again in KH2 he doesn’t really know how to feel about her anymore and given this is where the SoRiku train really starts I got on board and by DDD it was my fave, especially given how little Kairi had been involved in the series by that point. But then KH3 and especially Re:Mind showed me Kairi doing her best to fight and grow and develop and how really kind she is I started to like them together again, and MAN that ending. I ultimately decided that the entire ethos of the franchise really supports all three of them together, at least with a Sora Vee.

I really like Sora x Kairi, just because... Come on, they're so obviously over the moon for each other, not against the threesome, but I'm very much on the Riku x Namine train, which wasn't actually in this video, but I really think they'd make a great, wholesome couple. @@ThinkBoxChris The paopu scene in kh3 was especially awkward..Sora’s reaction didn’t seem like that of someone who’s in love. He and Kairi do get some cute tender scenes, but then he disappears. Now once again Kairi is being left behind while it’s Riku who goes on the journey to save him. That mixed with so much subtext that’s hints at them being into each other makes me think that either they’ll leave pairings open ended for fans to decide or this is actually slow burn SoRiku.

Them hugging in KH2 and in Re:Mind is basically the teen japanese equivalent of a kiss. In a way they remind me a bit of Kirie and Shuichi from Junji Ito's Uzumaki : they don't kiss or proclaim their love passionately but they deeply care for eachother, often risking their lives for the other.

My justification for ships. Sora/Kairi: Mainly how emotional he gets for her in various games as well as some concept art that I found cute showing a lot of their personalities we don’t see in game. Roxas/Xion: After everything they’ve been through it’s hard to see it any other way. Plus with the fan demand bringing them back against the original plan as their own people they can finally be together. Eraqus/Xehanort: They may be an inevitable disaster couple leading to actual Ragnarok but they still care for each other over the decades regardless of how things turn out. Marluxia/Larxene: Honestly it’s just the fact they have history. They were friends when they were Lauriam and Elrena and teamed up together in Castle Oblivion and again in the Keyblade Graveyard. How much they remember we don’t know but it’s still a relationship that transcended time.

The timeline for the end of KH through CoM & Days doesn’t really make much sense when you think about the explanation for Xion’s creation (if I remember correctly, Sora’s memories of Kairi extracted[?] by Naminé, but also Sora didn’t show up in CO until around the 22nd day of Roxas’ existence, even though Xion had joined XIII a week after Roxas, so how does that even work…) as she was an “incomplete” replica of Sora or Roxas using the memories Naminé took of Kairi…

However side note on the akuroku ship since we started out with the most controversial ship in the video. Aging in Kingdom Hearts is weird, isn't it? Like Aqua doesn't age a day despite being alive in the Realm of Darkness for ten years, but Axel and Saix age as Nobodies? And we see nobodies of people who were in the orginal Keyblade Wars as adults? Like Ventus, who was alive but in a coma, and Terra, who was technically alive but posessed by Xehanort, look the exact same but now Axel and Saix look like adults? We already know Isa and Lea were probably teens during days and Kairo was a child then and a child when she arrived on Destiny Islands after the destruction of Radiant Garden, so why weren't Axel and Saix the same age as they were when Radiant Garden was destroyed? Why does Ansem Seeker of Darkness and Xemnas look so much older than Terranort was during his time in Radiant Garden? Is AxelxVentus a more acceptable ship due to the ages being more similar (chronologically) despite Roxas being the clone of Ventus? AkuRoku stresses me out because great dynamics, love me some "friends to enemies to lovers" trope, but incredibly uncomfortable age of consent law questions and no logical explanation of how aging works in the series. Also why in hell is Sora still 16!? It's been twenty years Nomura! It makes it weird for now adult fans who were literal children when the series started to be like "here is my OTP and OT3" "why are they all teenagers when you are a mid twenty year old?" "Uuuuuuuuuhhhh, they didn't age in canon and I did?" "Ew." Why are we still letting literal teeangers save the world in fiction? Why can't they be adults for once? Why aren't there any adults?! The obsession with teens doing dangerous things (usually involving being a part of wars) feels weird to me. I know it's a marketing tactic but ffs let them be 18 or older! Coming of age stories happen after age 18, too!

@@ThinkBoxChris I double checked with the wiki and apparently in KH:MoM it is confirmed the fall of Radiant Garden is only a year after KHBBS. I haven't played MoM personally since tfw no ps4 and no money. I was always under the impression that Kairi showed up shortly after the meteor shower where Ventus enters Sora's heart in BBS. Chronologically Aqua and Terra are both 28-29 in KH3 with Ven, Lea and Isa being in probably their mid twenties since they were all in their mid to late teens during BBS. Those ages are obviously not reflected in their current designs across the board. Aqua was alive and presumably aging (Realm of Darkness rules be damned; how'd she survive if she couldn't eat? Did she eat?) So why doesn't her character model show that passage of time? Even when Sora was in his stasis pod, he aged and grew taller. Why didn't Ventus age too when he was in his ten year long coma? Is it because his weird existence across huge gaps of time? I love KH but it makes no sense when you factor in basic things like basic bodily functions like aging and eating. There are a lot of convenient plot devices that apply to only one character to explain things that happen (Sora growing in stasis while Ven does not. Riku, Sora and Kairi growing from like 5 year olds and then Aqua never aging but Lea, Inezo, and Isa do?) . Like Nomura definitely is a pantser when it comes to plotting out this stuff. The idea of canon ages in KH seems so absurd when the concept of aging isn't really followed consistently. And then there is the time travel aspect. It just makes my head spin. Like shipping be damned, I just want to know how aging works in KH!
