Adding on to what you said, just because alastor is ace doesn't mean he strictly cannot be sexual. Asexuality is a spectrum and not everyone on it fits into that same mold. They're about people personally paring up two characters that they think could make a good couple or relationship in general, ignoring the boundaries set between them in the show. It's more of an evaluation based on dynamics and such. One example would be the ben and gwen ship from Ben 10. Regardless of your stance on the ethics or whatever behind cousin on cousin incest, ben and gwen make a really good duo, and the ship is a response to that.

okay, my personal way of shipping is Platonic Radiodust. If it gets romantic, it only ever is romantic, not sexual. As for who I ship Al and Angel with, it's simple. I say Al doesn't get with anyone, but plays matchmaker to cause mischief while unintentionally putting people into healthy spaces where they can thrive, while I ship Angel with Husker. What can I say? I love the angst to fluff type ships. Also, I head canon that Alastor would be the one that set them up very subtly, such as telling Angel that Husker was a field medic when he was alive(other head canon of mine) after Angel came back looking somewhat beat up.
