Lore-Wise it was explained in a Cutscene that the Paladins in XIV are Free Paladins, which means that they get all of the Power, without any of the Commitment or Oaths a Paladin usually makes This means that Paladins don’t have to commit to a Personality type or Role-Play in XIV, unlike other games like DnD, where if you do something Evil, you’re likely to lose your aligned Magical Element, as well as most likely lose your Connection to your God, along with your Class changing to Oathbreaker A bit obvious, but in XIV you don’t have to commit to the Oaths of Paladins, and instead Lore-Wise are free to become any and all other Classes like, Dark Knight, Black Mage, or Reaper and maintain your Light Aspected Powers

By gaming definition it differs from game to game, some have religious alignments, some are more related to ambition and righteousness than religion. If its the type with religious roots then who says those roots can't be an evil god (I mean, the christian god itself is pretty evil, and paladins seem to usually be based on that god, so they're already evil aligned lol)

You can be a Paladin for literally any cause you deem worthy enough to swear allegiance too. That is the only prerequisite. Your oaths. The title Oathbreaker says in it's very name that the reason you became it is because you forsook your oaths. It doesn't say you did something mean, it doesn't say you did something evil, as a matter of fact, there is a canon Oathbreaker in BG3 that became so because *going against her orders was the right thing to do*.

I started as summoner because I heard how the summons could fight for you, and I love that kind of class. Unfortunately, I started playing in 6.1, and didn't know about the rework. Nearly quit the game, but decided to go to my second favorite ff job dragoon. My reason for loving dragoon was entirely to do with the aesthetic. I still don't like Kain and none of the other named dragoons ever drew me in, but god damnit the armor is always so cool. Glad I changed jobs because I would have never gotten to experience anything past ARR. I'll forever be dragoon because of that

Carbuncle doesn't actually engage in any combat, they are similar to a fairy now in that you just need them out for a bunch of your skills to work but no more using titan as a tank etc..

And the true fear of a red mage is not loosing the melee combo because of a mecanic (you can just pause the combo, dodge the mecanic and continue where you stopped). No the true fear of a red mage is getting in a dungeon where the synchronised lvl is below lvl 64... or even WORSE! *BELOW 54* . I started playing the game due to some friends, on a casual basis. Since no one of them play a tankjob main, I looked into them and decided to play Gunbreaker because it looked fun due to the many skills, off global CDs. And it is. It is fast, fun, and dishes out quite some damage, at least it feels like it. Skills look great, and it feels satisfying during your no mercy phases. I do wear the last job specific outfit, in red though, because I love the color. Obviously I am not objective about my character, but I think my Au`ra looks good in it. I did look into 3 other jobs, just to see a bit of other perspectives. Reaper for melee DPS, simply because the skills look awesome. Not gonna lie, thats basically why. Shit looks cool, thats enough for me. Redmage for a "caster" dps. Similar reason to Gunbreaker: it looked fun with the combo you get in the end. And it is. Also their class outfit? Yeah. I like it. Last: Dancer. Just a fun idea to be frank, something very different. And I like the mobility. I also kind of liked the irony of a big male Au`ra dancing around a fight.

You have a similar set up to me with my current 90s and the classes I leveled up first. Some friends of mine played but they didn't really have any tanks so I looked into that and landed on PLD which is and will always be my main despite the fun I have on other classes I leveled BRD next for a ranged DPS class (I was only PLD from when I started in Stormblood and then midway into Shadowbringers I leveled other classes and the transition from tank to DPS was night and day with how much I had felt I had to focus in duty roulettes) Next I leveled Arcanist for the fact that it could be a healer (Scholar) or a DPS (SMN) that shared the same exp bar so I covered 2 classes at once and had faster queues leveling as a SCH And then I leveled DRG for a melee DPS and its a lot of fun with a satisfying rotation that loops around itself Since then I have leveled every class to 50, healers to 60 (aside from SGE at base 70), and WAR and DRK to 60, while working on getting to omni90 and focusing on leveling tanks and healers over DPS while working on my commendations without begging for them. Recently I got my GNB to 90 and I've enjoyed it so much I'm planning on splitting my tank role depending on the needs of my group to be GNB or PLD based on what we need

It was a very controversial update that changed summoner because of that. I picked summoner originally because it had some crazy complex rotations and in a single update it went from one of the hardest to one of the easiest. I still enjoy playing it as a class but is sucks being constantly called out for picking an 'easy' class when many people picked it for the exact opposite reason. Also sucks that the took the actual pet stuff away, having titan tank for you when playing solo was pretty nice.

12:51 I played enhancement shaman for a long time specifically because I enjoyed how active it was both as good dps but also team support with totems or emergency heals when someone took a bad hit or the healer's cc'd or the tanks just taking too much dmg for the healer to keep up during a rage phase. Red Mage sounds like a lot of fun for me - I really enjoy taking an active party roll as a DPS/Support. If I'd have to burn all my mana to rez team members, it doesn't matter if my DPS takes a hit: because I would have just prevented a wipe. Red mage sounds pretty awesome.

Astro is indeed a busy job. It's hard to get them cards off inbetween certain encounters. I like it but I'm so glad my sister used to main it because i can ask her wtf certain abilities do because i skim read on large descriptions sometimes. I got it down mostly. Just need to pace myself and not panic heal sometimes. We are getting through eden raids and it makes me fear for the future lol
