Congratulations! You are going to be a DSP Amazon Driver. Have you ever wonder what your first day driving for Amazon looks like? This is everything you need to know as I recreate a nursery route. a nursery route is kind of like a beginner route where its only between 20-80 stops. It's pretty easy and you'll gradually get more each and everyday.

Let me help some of yall out. Sorting packages by number is a waste of time. Once you know what bag you're working out of, empty it out and put the boxes on the passenger seat and envelopes/bags on the floor in between the seats.

I'm two weeks in and it's been the most physically demanding jobs if you're looking to get out on time or early. What I've learned, avoid those breaks if you can, eat on the go, minimize your fluid intake but keep a Gatorade or water with you always, organize your stops which will make your job easier & pay attention to the driver aid numbers on your packages cause they help cut down time. Power walk or jog at all stops, don't take your sweet time cause you'll be there longer and more than likely will have unhappy customers due to them getting their packages late. Organization will always make your job so much easier. Get a marker for your overflow boxes, make sure all driver aid stickers are easily visible to you. If you get out through the side door, be sure that before you sit down to driver to your next stop, grab the next packages. Anything that helps you cut down time while not getting any infractions, will help you a ton. Ask coworkers and leaders for tips too. I work for an awesome DSP so the whole team is super friendly and always be willing to help you out. Also avoid the bi-weekly and sloppy DSP's I've seen so many employees from other DSP's just be plain reckless and careless. Follow customer instructions to the T, don't waste time if there is no access to your drop opp, just call the customer and if you get no answer, you bring those back to the station or return at a later time. Your movement speed has to be swift or at a decent pace, start scanning as you walk towards their house, have the phone ready for the picture and you'll be in and out. I usually work the 9:30 AM shift, sometimes the 12:30 PM shift and my goal is always to be done with my route by 6, the latest 7:00 PM.

While i really like videos like these and this type of job, amazon pushes to many deliveries on one person way too much . No wonder they are constantly hiring . Appears to be slave labor . The quoted text . “Avoid breaks” “power walk or jog” are unacceptable . Report cards . Aggressive DSP’s ….. no way

I literally had to run my route and got done 7 min before the time constraint to avoid being pinged. Meanwhile someone I went to orientation with is still on 130 stops.

Thank you for making this video I start training in a week and this video helps to understand what to do when I start delivering, I think I’m going to like this job better than my last , everything is straight forward with some structure of where everything gets delivered, it wasn’t that easy on my last job installing windshields and Auto glass in vehicle’s, it was a really thankless job and no matter how good of a job and how fast the job got done it wasn’t good enough sometimes. Overall I love it at FedEx been driving for FedEx Ground for 2 months and I have no complaints other than the benefits are not as good as Amazon but they make up for it by Giving discounts on stuff that is normally expensive.

Thanks for another great vid Chris! Could you possibly go over how to deal with parking every time you stop for the next delivery? Like situations in narrow streets, no curb space to pull over, blocking traffic, all of the above when you have to make many trips to drop off packages to the same house, etc? Also, whats the deal with cases of beverages? I ordered like 6 cases of drinks that were coming in 3 separate shipments (don’t ask me why), but all 3 deliveries got cancelled due to damage. How do you damage a case of drinks? Seems like it would crush all the other packages first 😄 Are the drivers possibly rejecting them because of the weight? Not sure if drinks are delivered by DSP or Flex drivers.
@LaosHouse
@LaosHouse Жыл бұрын
for parking you just need to double park everywhere if there's no other way. You'll have to block traffic but you get used to it. Anything liquid gets damage easily since it's being thrown around the warehouse. I have a video coming up about packages that get delayed.

I drive for Amazon Flex Logistics for 2+ years now. I think I got this. My biggest problem with flex is sometimes they give us oversized packages that won't fit into my vehicle on the 1st place. Most I've done was a 44 stops with 48 packages (all cramped into my 04 Honda Accord) for a 4 1/2 hours shift. Got those done in a little over 3 hours.

@@colecovington8133 It depends on pay. I'm in NYC so typically they pay $19 an hour & I usually work for a 3 or 4 hour blocks. I decided to join DSP mainly because of my personal vehicle. I drive an 04 Honda Accord with 209K miles and quite frankly I do not want to add any more miles to it. Plus it doesn't help when I drive for flex, you gotta pay for pretty much everything (gas, insurance, maintenance and so on). Flex routes cab be challenging sometimes. A week ago I had a round with 60 packages (managed to fit everything into my car somehow) with 60 stops (1 package per stop). Sometimes I'll get 50+ packages but only 15 stops or so but most of them goes to the projects.

This is how the driver aids number work. As people buy products from Amazon, the algorithm puts the packages in order. When the route is complete, the algorithm tries to fix the route. And this is when they get out of order, and it still happens today. What I have found is that the original order is usually routed better, then the 2nd attempt from the ai algorithm.

You guys get to go home? When i worked for USPS we had to back and reload or help other drivers deliver packages. Helping other driver dliver packages is pretty nice but reloading 200 + packages is definitely not fun and i got fired because i crashed their jeep. Yeah they gave me a jeep and loaded it with so much packages i cant even see my side mirrors or passenger window and on top i was getting yelled at for being slow and it was my 2nd week only. The supervisor got fired too. But i start this wednesday at amazon and ive never driven a big van before since at USPS they never had a available truck or van so they gave me a darn jeep lol

Quick question… with the constant starting and stopping of the engine, it must affect gas mileage on the vans with so many deliveries. Does Amazon let you take time to fill the tank during your route, or do they just fill at at the distribution center?
@BaphoMedia
@BaphoMedia 10 ай бұрын
End of route you go fill it up. Amazon pays for it it won’t come out of your check or anything. Almost like a “gas card” deal. Basically the previous driver the day before at the end of their shift SHOULD HAVE filled the truck up with fuel so when the next guy comes in the next day that van is filled to the top with fuel. If not then it’s either grounded and they get you another van that’s filled up OR they’ll have you load up then go fuel up

WHOA WAIT A MINUTE!!! I had one ride along and the next day I was sent out on my first solo mission that I was told is called a “Nursery Route”. I had 180 packages/148 locations. My second day, which I was told was still considered a “Nursery Route” was 196 packages/152 locations. I’m just now wrapping up my second week and I can’t imagine how I’m going to be able to deliver more packages than I already do!

Get the name of the dsps and call each to see what they offer. If they offer more perks just switch. Super easy. If you've been driving for another dsp they don't have to pay for driving and you're in the system as far BG check, etc. If they're hiring and they always are they will gladly take you. Becareful though bc alot are bait and switch. The one I was with said they had insurance/health benefits then when I was about to start im asking when do I sign up for benefits as this job can be taxing on your body. They said of you have to wait 2 months and be full time. So what is full time? Youre on for 40 hours a week but it's not guaranteed. Such a pain dealing with little things like that. Also my dsp talked about the fico score every meet up but we never got any incentive for good scores. Amazon gives dsps bonuses for good scores, which is why they keep talking about it and some dsps owners like mine were keeping the money. There are other who share it or give out tvs, tablets etc. My dsp was crap and I honestly knowing this cared less about the fico. The job simple but every DA is under paid, imo

Tracking your vehicle use and scoring and quality of photos that can hurt YOU or the DSP is beyond stupid. I bet meanwhile people in Cooperate are getting paid like way way more, as in they can afford a fancy condo.
