Ben, the time you spent creating useful educational videos helped so many people who are serious about adopting Bitcoin. I learned a lot from your videos (together with James D'Angelo videos - Blackboard series). I follow what you do since your first video! Keep up the good work! Fewer politics, less blah blah blah, and more education, more basics, and step-by-step tutorials, as you do! All the best, Ben!

Love your show and all the different viewpoints, thank you for bringing this. Also, I donated BTC to the truckers, wonderful to hear about it, what a great job he did. Bitcoin and its eco system hardens every day, the harder its attacked the harder it gets. Under tyranny black markets will form - learned that from raising 4 kids alone and I was the tyrant, lol - boy did they teach me so much, my greatest teachers.

Wonderful interview! I really get a lot out of your interviews and BTC Sessions KZbin channel. With his tutorials I have setup a BTC node. Just bought the components to build a seedsigner. Next up will be a personal server- all learnt from BTC Sessions. As a Canadian, the truckers strike taught me that self custody is vitally important. Thanks for all you do

I was a huge fan of BTC Sessions before, but having this back story on the Canadian truckers took it to the next level. The fact that Ben feels bad about not perfectly fighting the state. As you say man, zoom out - you fought the state and won. Thank you for all your tutorials, I only have a node setup because of you. For the record, I'm also a progressive so I know this isn't about individual political opinions.

Specially nice to watch my two favourite BTC podcasters together! IMHO Ben's show has improved a lot in the last years, for a while it was just news and I did not feel too interested, but then he started doing deep tutorials, going into the details, and it became an invaluable resource. As a Canadian whose a hardcore bitcoiner, I enjoyed this episode tremendously. When there were protesters in Toronto, I told my family that I wanted to go down just to observe, to witness firsthand whether people were spewing hate and violence. Based on my skepticism of the media, they thought I was paranoid, so I didn’t go. I regret not getting a firsthand account of such a historic moment in Canadian history.

I think when people donate bitcoin you have an obligation to deliver that bitcoin. The state can't stop you. You had 3 of 5. The state raided 1 of you. 3 of 4 left. Deliver it. The truckers are standing up to their government, people who donate are trying to support that effort. They didn't donate to support compliance. Don't accept it if you can't deliver.

One question to complete my mental preparation, which I hope to test out - how exactly were the care packages set up? Were the truck drivers handed hardware wallets? Satscards? Opendimes? What's your recommendation as best form of distribution?

How did all of the BTC go from being in one multi-sig wallet to 30% being lost in a non-multi-sig wallet?
@BTCSessions Жыл бұрын
It was still in a Multisig wallet, but to resolve the bug in Nunchuk the keys were concentrated with a single person as the Nunchuk devs helped to sort out the issue. Timing was a factor when they were confiscated to the legal escrow they now sit in.

Just a thought, In my mind crypto Platforms that are layered on top of bitcoin is the best path forward . bitcoin does not have an issuer, plus you can self custody Bitcoin,minimizing third-party risk. In the meantime ,the invisible hand of the market and the courts are will decide what is sustainable Crypto , long before the regulators🤔IMO

12:05: "[needed QR codes] to go into any stores..." - Wrong. I'm from Ottawa, and this is just flagrantly false; anyone could go into Metro grocery stores/convenience stores as long as you were masked.
@BTCSessions Жыл бұрын
Depends on the store. You couldn't enter the mall here, and many other establishments. Walmart in Quebec allowed you in without a passport, but at one point you had to wait in between pylons for a store employee to escort you around the store and ensure you only bought essentials.

@amylalonde958 Жыл бұрын
Except it wasn’t. I was sick with COVID during the protest so I spent a lot of time watching the livestreams that were put up by the protesters. This wasn’t just a protest. The truckers took over Ottawa and made life hell for the people living there. Imagine having a new baby or young kids and having all that noise for three weeks. People were setting off fireworks between buildings in downtown Ottawa. But, what instigated the Emergencies Act was a complete breakdown of the usual policing. At the city level police were not enforcing existing bylaws that could have shut down the excessive noise and at the provincial level the Premier abdicated his responsibilities and went skiing. His daughter was part of the protests and he refused to attend any of the meetings with the other levels of government who were trying to find some other way to resolve this. There is even evidence that some police officers, in addition to not enforcing bylaws, were actively feeding the protesters information and were helping them. The Federal Government just rapped up hearings on the Executive Order. I encourage you to go watch them and if you have time watch some of the live streams. I really think you will find the reality to be quite different from the story being told in bitcoin circles.

BLM were not bad because of their ideology. They were bad because everywhere they rioted and protested, people were terrified of violence done against them. This was not the case with the truckers.
@BTCSessions Жыл бұрын
I agree - just wanted to tug on the thread of trying to paint an ideology by a subset of people's actions. Truckers were all characterized by a couple people carrying awful flags, and a few of the loudest crazies out there. BLM also had some awful people destroying the businesses of innocent people, harassing/attacking people, etc. I don't think in either instance it's worth saying every person with a certain ideology also believes X, or behaves in a certain way.
