It's because "normal" hybrids are a bit of a waste of time. Most car makers will be forced to drop them once the planned legislation appears to ban them, and instead replace them with plug-in hybrids capable of covering a certain distance on electricity alone. Although it hasn't yet been decided what that certain distance is to be...

Being a bit of a Skoda fan, I noticed the Skoda Enyaq's interior seemed way ahead of that in the VW ID4. And yes, Skoda have got the exterior design basics right too, although some don't care for the grille size or design. @@fasthracing The problem car makers face, is that they can't risk being left behind in the market, otherwise they know they will lose sales to other manufacturers. As we all know, once over, the vast majority of cars never had things like radios, central locking, electric windows, or power steering etc....but eventually people began to demand cars with comfier, better equipped interiors. The Japanese were among the first to oblige here, in the form of Datsun cars (now Nissan). They all came laden with radios, a clock, and other previously unheard of gadgets in a car, and they were cheap. They rusted quicker than a cheap B&Q wheelbarrow, but the die was cast, and the European car makers had to try and compete. People usually always expect or demand improvements over time. It's a trait of human nature..... We've seen what happens when someone offers a rock-bottom basic car, and doesn't ever update or improve it. Lada and Moskvich would probably both testify to this.

Matrix lights - Wasn't there a news article last week saying they were dangerous as dazzling on-coming traffic? Still no physical dials re. climate control and fan speed - for me that's a missed opportunity and so automatically crosses itself off my next car list.
@tadleygreen
@tadleygreen 10 ай бұрын
I've had the vRS for three years now and never rely on the matrix lights as they just don't work in practice, so I would always end up dazzling people and getting flashed. It's a clever idea in theory but it can't cope with all situations and is too slow to react, so really isn't OK for real world driving.

How interesting - I'd always wondered whether they just aren't working as they should but the dealer has checked them and assured me they're set correctly. I didn't help that the dealer's service manager told me that his experience was similar to mine, so I rather gave up and manually dip the lights for oncoming vehicles as I always have. I may have another go at getting them checked as they would be brilliant if they worked as yours seem to.

@@tadleygreenDefinitely get them checked, as this is a great feature/function. I drive home most nights in motorway traffic, which isn’t illuminated with auto high beam on, and it cleverly lights up signage and other reflective items, whilst providing safe distance illumination that doesn’t distract other motorists.

@HIOP0

In answer to your inane, pointless, irrelevant initial "question"...no, there is no gearbox. In the interests of global warming, the environment and blockheads such as you, there are pedals, so that when you propel the car using your vast superhuman strength, the car will make progress...the further upside is, never, ever having to put fuel in the irrelevant (much like you) tank. Extra level 5tup1d1ty from you, with your qualifying "questions"...the wipers clear the windscreen and the back up camera gives a view of the rear area, behind the car, they are both "good". In any event, a car would be of no use to you, given you are a couch potato, welded to your decrepit sofa. Hope that helps. :)

Skoda's interiors are fast becoming a strong point. They're doing car interiors really well these days.... But the "everything controlled via the screen" approach doesn't always work well. For example, it is now extremely difficult - not to mention risky - to give the fan speed a tweak at motorway speeds, like you could in the older pre-big screen versions. But as far as the rest goes, I'm a confirmed Skoda fan. I'm now on my 5th Skoda over the last 23 years. I believe it is possible to get Laura, the voice assistant to adjust things as you drive, but there's no way I'm going down that road. I fell out big time with Laura a while ago, and I'd be quite happy if she never uttered another word....my fingers remain crossed regarding this, but Laura has a habit of making sure she has the last word....

Why waste your freakin resources on chat gpt, why not design a touch screen that's integrated into the dash. This stick on screen trend is pathetic and lazy, and NOT good design.
