@@fasthracing The problem car makers face, is that they can't risk being left behind in the market, otherwise they know they will lose sales to other manufacturers. As we all know, once over, the vast majority of cars never had things like radios, central locking, electric windows, or power steering etc....but eventually people began to demand cars with comfier, better equipped interiors. The Japanese were among the first to oblige here, in the form of Datsun cars (now Nissan). They all came laden with radios, a clock, and other previously unheard of gadgets in a car, and they were cheap. They rusted quicker than a cheap B&Q wheelbarrow, but the die was cast, and the European car makers had to try and compete. People usually always expect or demand improvements over time. It's a trait of human nature..... We've seen what happens when someone offers a rock-bottom basic car, and doesn't ever update or improve it. Lada and Moskvich would probably both testify to this.

Matrix lights - Wasn't there a news article last week saying they were dangerous as dazzling on-coming traffic? Still no physical dials re. climate control and fan speed - for me that's a missed opportunity and so automatically crosses itself off my next car list.
@tadleygreen10 ай бұрын
I've had the vRS for three years now and never rely on the matrix lights as they just don't work in practice, so I would always end up dazzling people and getting flashed. How interesting - I'd always wondered whether they just aren't working as they should but the dealer has checked them and assured me they're set correctly. Skoda's interiors are fast becoming a strong point. They're doing car interiors really well these days.... But the "everything controlled via the screen" approach doesn't always work well. For example, it is now extremely difficult - not to mention risky - to give the fan speed a tweak at motorway speeds, like you could in the older pre-big screen versions. But as far as the rest goes, I'm a confirmed Skoda fan. I'm now on my 5th Skoda over the last 23 years. I believe it is possible to get Laura, the voice assistant to adjust things as you drive, but there's no way I'm going down that road. I fell out big time with Laura a while ago, and I'd be quite happy if she never uttered another word....my fingers remain crossed regarding this, but Laura has a habit of making sure she has the last word....
