Man, when I saw Eric Sparrow in the thumbnail, it brought back so many memories of that spawn of Satan. He was the worst thing to ever exist in gaming for me at the time. There was a quote from an article talking about him that I found hilarious. It said: “I am not exaggerating when I say that I sometimes lie awake at night and consider the fact that Eric Sparrow will never go to hell, because he is not real and therefore cannot die.” I also love how Neversoft killed him in their intro. ( the one that shows their logo) Aside from knocking him out. That’s my end game canon for him, ha.

The Yiazmat fight was the sole reason I rage quit the whole game. I had him down over 90% and lost all but 1 of my party, and by the time I could cast res spells, he went right back up to full health. This fight took me hours to get to that point, and I had classes at the time, so you can imagine how long it truly took, only for in-game mechanics to render the whole thing pointless. I never opened the game ever again.

You can leave the arena and come back, Yiazmat will not heal and the game will even count the rounds I've personally beaten it in 8 rounds back on ps2

I thought Panther's attraction to Krystal was a nice touch at first. But over time, it got annoying and made me wish for a scene (preferably a playable one) in which Fox punches him out and tells him to stay away from *his* girlfriend. And of course, a scene with Fox and Krystal sharing a kiss.

Regarding Lady Comstock- the third fight can be skipped if you know where she spawns for the third fight and set a lot of Devil's kiss traps there. Pretty much nuked her in my 1999 mode/scavenger hunt run of Infinite. My screen went orange for a bit from the explosions but I didn't have to waste precious ammo on her or the minions.

I suppose I'm just the odd one out on this one, but I adore the Yiazmat fight. It was challenging, required thought and planning, and while it is a long fight you don't have to do it in one sitting. If you are fighting too long or need to recover your party just run out of the arena to the next area over and use the save crystal. So long as you don't dilly dally he won't heal up and you can continue beating him down afterwards

Same. I think a lot of the divide in the Fandom and the hate for the game could have been lessened, maybe, if they'd let players have a choice to make. I've played games where having the choice of killing or sparing a character didn't even really change the ending and I still appreciated it anyway because sometimes you just want the catharsis of killing a hated enemy.

Eric Sparrow...gah! I'm glad neversoft coded in the revenge punch. However, the most rage inducing in THUG 1 is the challenge in Moscow for the hangover remedies on Sick difficulty. The ex, she is an obsessive gamer. Would not rest till that particular challenge was done. The sheer anger from her really made me learn a lot about her. That challenge was designed to break people. It didn't break her. The intro to Serve The People challenge in THUG 1 must be one of the funniest in gaming history where a Russian is trying to talk American. Neversoft at their best.

In my first playthrough of LOU 2, I was anti-Abby. I did an immediate second playthrough though, while skipping most cutscenes, and actually swung more towards Abby's side. Both girls were dead set on vengeance though, and both had a chance to just walk away. A++ Storytelling though, and has become my favorite video game franchise.

Good gameplay, crap storytelling. It's main flaw was putting Abby in the right while make Joel and Ellie look like bastards. There was no "good" character in the first game and that was fine. Abby is just as much to blame for what went down, if not more. Is like you said, she could have walked away, and yet she wonders why Ellie wants her dead.

Technically speaking the cycle of revenge wouldn't really be broken just because Abby gets to live. Since Ellie kills a bunch of people on the way to Abby. So those people's families/friends will probably want revenge on Ellie. So she might as well have killed Abby anyway, it would've made the ending much more satisfying!

Jules, glad you understood TLOU2 and explained it so well. Think people over-looked that point lost in their own rage. Something to ponder.

I'm in the same position as Jules, i understood the story well enough. However i still did not like last of us 2 and felt it was a waste of money and time. Why? Gameplay was dull and hardly an improvement of the first game, and even if i understood the story and why they made it the way they did that does not change that Last of us 2 is just a repeat of a generic revenge story we have seen and heard 100 times before. And yet it still got critics game of the year. I will preach this for a long time to come, Good graphics =/= good game. I rest my case.

@@bluntlyhonest6803 Good for you :) I personally enjoyed the story, the direction they took it in given our expectations as fans as well as the delivery. For me, the story was well-paced and balanced. Mechanical-wise, I was able to see the subtle differences which helped the game feel like re-acquainting with an old friend. Graphics, could have been better but it wasn't on PC so I don't blame them there, but the mo-cap, jazeus. We're all entitled to our opinion. Shame yours sucks :P Edit: Love your name though >.
