Interesting question involving Austin. Imagine he being forced into retirement with Brett moving to WCW and HBK taking time off because of his back problems. Would HHH have been thrust into the limelight? The Rock? Would Foley have been given an early push? Would the Undertaker have gotten an actual decent title run? We'll never know but it would have been interesting and I wonder if WCW would have been able to survive.

Bret planted the seeds for the screwjob by using his own creative control when he signed on for the Survivor Series 1996 and probably had his entire final 12 months booked in his head. (Including the screwjob finish itself, Bret's work). It would take an entire DVD to show Bret's 1997 run: Vader, Mankind, Pycho Sid, and then Sid in a cage match, HHH, Patriot, Rock, Shamrock - with promos and entrances that's a full three hour disc. On TV, the "screwed" storyline started at the end of the Sid vs Bret title cage match on Raw in March 1997. Bret had won the WWF title in Canada in 1992, and having the Hart family win the big tag match from Canadian Stampede was definitely part of Bret's negotiations. There was no way he would go to WCW after a loss to Shawn, and so Bret came up with his 1997 year-long storyline to get the most out of it while could. Bret screwed Bret. LOL.. Yes. Yes he did. Bret came up with the screwjob finish so yeah, I Vince is telling the truth when he says Bret screwed Bret !

You know what fact I'm surprised you DIDN'T mention? The fact that Triple H was ADAMANT that he was NOT going to wear that King Of The Ring crown. He told Vince backstage, "Vince, I'm not wearing that dorky-looking crown," and he emphasized that point by smashing the crown over Mick Foley's head! Next night on RAW, they were going to crown him again, but Triple H proceeded to do the EXACT SAME THING! They tried AGAIN the next week, and the SAME THING HAPPENED AGAIN! Finally, Vince said, "You really aren't going to wear that crown, are you Hunter?". And of course, Triple H said no, so Vince finally relented.

@Wurzelknecht7 жыл бұрын
To have the blow-off match with Michaels at Survivor Series, I guess. Judging by an article by Russo I read in the WWF Magazine back then (I was young don't judge me), it seems the original plan for the WWF Title was for Shawn to regain it at the Rumble (which he did), lose it to Bret at Mania (which he didn't) and then regain it from him at Survivor Series in the rubber match. So that match was planned as early as December 1996.
