The thing that struck me, having watched every WWE show from 95 to 2000 this latest year, is how much air time and mic time hardcore holly inexplicably got

“This is Your Life” segment was a rare lightning in a bottle moments that you just had to be there for. I remember watching it live and laughing my tail off.

I remember the first time I saw it and thought it was the funniest thing ever. However, on his podcast, Bruce Prichard says this segment was one of the most angry he'd ever been at talent. It was only susposed to go like 8 minutes and ended up going like 25 or something like that and he was furious about how long it ran on tv and what they had to scramble to cut. He was pissed at The Rock, he was pissed at Mick Foley, and he was pissed at Vince Russo.

There was also the Half Time Heat title change, so that would be 6 on free TV

I disagree with the McMahon title run opinion. Stone Cold putting Vince on for the count was the biggest f*** you that Stone Cold could give HHH. It was sheer humiliation. Vince did the right thing by giving it up. He got his revenge, now on to the next champ.

Been watching reliving the war every week and it only really starting getting better when HHH turned biggest heel and Stephanie joined him. Obviously that’s just opinion but even now I remember being 10 and absolutely despising both of them. That says a lot that I remember that 25 years later!

In my opinion wwe scrapping plans to have christopher daniels as the higher power instead of vince is a big what If since I think daniels could of have a good and solid run with the wwe. But hey at least it gave us one of jim ross’s legendary calls of “ah son of a B” and led to stone cold being the commissioner of raw for a few weeks.

I remember loving Raw in 1999, as well as the PPVs. The Rock and Mankind had been added to the main event scene, and HHH would join them later in the year. They did a good job of taking the weight from Austin’s shoulders. It’s easy to take something that happened 25 years ago and make out that it’s not as good as we remember, but the thing is: it was. It was as good as we remember, because we remember how much we loved it then. Also (and this seems to be said an awful lot these days) we ought not to expect the past to sit comfortably with the values of today. The 90s were a very different era, and there wasn’t a single person watching WWF in that decade wondering ‘but will someone in 2024 feel the same way?’. Presentism is lazy.

To be fair, they were in a real war. I know a lot of you guys don’t understand what a real war is. WCW literally died less than 2 years later. So every week is was a risk taking to take out the competition. Again nobody was looking for that high flying nonsense. We’re here for entertainment

So this is basically a list of things you don’t like from 1999, and a chance to try and shit on the attitude era. Nothing will ever top the attitude era, you all need to accept that fact and move on.

We’re not doing the whole, “Jericho’s debut promo wasn’t actually good!” thing. It was an encapsulation of what his character was supposed to be, and it is better in hindsight because all of the criticisms he had for the show being boring ended up becoming true for many years.

Wait, since WHEN was Triple H treated as a babyface for marrying Steph? It made him the biggest heel in the company and effectively turned Vince babyface. Also they later retconned the Vegas marriage into Steph having been in on it from the start to get back at her dad for staging the black wedding with the Undertaker.

I'll call Whatculture Wrestling out on something Big Show did cool in '99. Survivor Series '99 he kick all his tag team partners a$$es before the classic Survivor Series tag team match. WON! THEN WENT ON TO MAIN EVENT THE PPV! Question how did that triple threat end? I mean he literally just defeated 5 men by himself, and was injected into the main event. I mean defeating 7 men in 1 night isn't cool in '99? My mistake. He won right?
