Yeah everything fans would’ve wanted to happen at Survivor Series the last few years especially 2018 is what they did at Invasion 2001 in terms of counting the record of the matches and building it as a story through the PPV, having it be 3-3 by the main event and giving the main event more stakes in real time.

I was in 9th grade and recall my friend's parents bought this PPV. At the time we enjoyed the heck out of it and I was super disappointed that Bret lost. Besides Macho Man, he was one of my favorite wrestlers. Anyway, I remember when Hogan came out we were both confused but then when Fuji issued the challenge and Hogan accepted, we jumped out of our seats, and when he won we yelled and screamed in excitement. Knowing now what had happened behind the scenes, it was all a waste. But man, it was real to us. To be a kid again!

Luger didn't win with the most devastating move in all of sports entertainment. He won with a backslide despite the fact Perfect's feet were in the ropes (so another dodgy finish). Honestly it seems Ramon v Backlund and the Steiners tag were the only matches with clean finishes

When I was 11, I told all my friends I had a new mini bike in my garage but I wasnt allowed to ride it until I turned 12 (plus I started the lie in winter to buy me more time lol). I was obsessed with Evel K at the time, so I had to own my own motorbike of course lol. My friends all believed me at first, but then they wanted to see it in person. I kept making excuses why I couldnt have friends at the house, and when pressed, used my BICYCLE to make tracks in the snow, so I could show my friends the tracks lmao. Clearly they busted me, I was so embarrassed that my old man went and bought me a real 1971 Honda Mini Trail 50 cc mini bike...and suddenly I was a ok with my friends again lol. I seriously laughed when you told your metal plate in your arm story, so I had to share mine, Cheers mate,

Simon just made me realize that in a matter of a few months, Hogan buried the tag titles and stole the world title from Bret and Yoko at one event, then buries that same world title he just politicked for in Japan. Then goes to WCW and politics the belt off of Flair. The #1 NWA/WCW guy of all time. Then, brings in his buddies for a "way past our time, brother" tour. Then...Ed Leslie.. in the main event...at Starrcade. A part of us all died that year.

Regarding Giant Gonzalez's ring attire - if memory serves, creative services had to very quickly knock up a drawing of some attire for him as they were against the clock. They were told to draw something that was like a cross between Wolverine and a werewolf. And they delivered a cartoon drawing of what you see Gonzalez wearing: a full body suit with airbrushed muscles and hair glued to it. Everyone thought it was the drizzling shits, but Vince loved it. Said it looked scary. Gave it the green light, naturally. 😒

WM IX sucks but I have a soft spot for it. It was the first WWF PPV that I was able to watch live in my own house as my parents had recently got satellite TV. Previously, I had to borrow tapes from friends. Since this tape belonged to me, I could watch it whenever I wanted. I think I must've watched it 30 times over the years.

Tatanka was supposed to win the IC title, but plans were changed and he won by count out to keep his winning streak alive. A couple years later he was riding with Bret and Taker and they told him the night before WM that Shawn went to Vince and said that he(Tatanka) had a bad attitude and that’s when Mcmahon scrapped the idea of putting the belt on him. Speaking of belts isn’t it interesting that the picture of Hogan posing in the ring with the championship belt that there are dark ominous clouds overhead? A sign of bad times ahead?

I recall reading one of Bret’s articles for the Calgary Sun claiming that the Hulk swap was to build to a Hart/Hogan match (maybe SS?) and Hogan’s departure from the WWF meant it never happened. Doubtless we’d look back more fondly if we got to see Hart put on a barnburner with Hogan.

Unfortunately this was one of the first events I had on tape. I knew it was bad as a kid, but was naive and didn’t think it was terrible & god awful. I watched this event so many damn times. I was shook when Giant Gonzalez made The Undertaker pass out with the Chloroform. I was legitimately scared. Was so happy when the Undertaker sat up and made his way out the ring. Edit** this show was pretty much an episode of Raw with a special Ancient Greece theme with Togas, Charriots & horses. I don’t understand how this show is so bad & sandwiched between two good Wrestlemania’s, 8 & 10
