Glad the crowd popped for him and Cole put him over when he got up. I think they kept going bc the initial concern was concussion/neck, which he would have said he’s good with. I wonder when the lung/ribs were hurt. Maybe it was the table spot, I thought that was more head/neck area but he 100% may have also hit his ribs/ lung just right when his back hit the table. Crazy all around , glad he’s ok.

It sounds like I'm not alone in this, but I have to say that I really don't like it when what you might call midcard champions declare for the Royal Rumble and/or enter it. I feel like it sends the message that the title they have doesn't matter and rather than focusing on defending it, they just want to go and win a "better" title. Not only that, but it wouldn't hurt to have a few title matches take place at said PLE and it would free up a few more spots in the titular match for some fun surprise entrants.

I understand the feeling of having midcard titles in the Rumble, but seeing as the PLE normally only has 2 regular matches I think throwing the midcard champs in the rumble is a good way to preview and start future feuds between the people they throw out and whoever throws them out.

with word that jd is now hospitalized, this is the second week in a row where a wrestler was clearly injured and the match wasn't stopped. i think HHH & the producers need to reassess their injury management policy and protect the talent from themselves. i thought the closing angle was fine but there were too many stops and starts in the promo. i've seen both men do way better promos than that. but i'm definitely sold and intrigued by how many rumble possibilities there are. and that's a sign of strong booking and storytelling.

JD probably thought he just had the wind knocked out of him. All the adrenaline and excitement can mask a more serious injury. The wrestlers want to finish the match, they want to do their job, unless they physically can't they're probably going to muscle through the pain, let's not pretend these are sane people.

Referees should definitely step in more because wrestlers and other athletes suffer from a psychological concept called obsessive passion where they can’t see how much they are hurting themselves because of the love of the game. It’s a more recent concept that I did a research study years ago and never applied it to wrestling. The articles I read were specifically about professional cyclists riding in snow and ice and I think powerlifters go way too heavy in normal training exercises. This was my thesis for my bachelors degree. JD and these wrestlers with these nasty falls mid-match seem to match these traits.

Throwing some Men's RR predictions up: Entry #1: Joe Hendry. Why? Gotta give him the full entrance. He can't do that entrance if he runs in later. Entry #2: Matt Cardona. TNA gets to highlight its #1 feud, WWE gets to start off with "you have no idea who's coming" and Cardona and Hendry can absolutely brawl exclusively against one another until some superheavyweight sends them flying together. Also gives the announcers time to explain why Zack Ryder is back...ish. Entry #3: Logan Paul. Comes in, touches his forehead, and just sits and watches the whole time while they ignore him. Entry #4: Seth Rollins - Now we've got two major brawls underway. At that point, Seth and Logan will be able to bounce off the other people and keep action going throughout. Come on - this has got to happen. Hendry can't really feud with WWE guys right now, he doesn't need any eliminations, but he can be there to keep things unpredictable and interesting.
