I liked how lived-in their house looked and discussions about being broke and paying bills. Also, it showed them buying fast food after working all day and falling short of perfection like in most sitcoms.

Personally, I thought the middle was one of the most true to life middle America sitcoms. I.would burst out in laughter quite often. What a pleasant change to enjoy a show that was not to " sweety sappy" or " political social "... In fact I have since bought all the seasons on DVD so that I can enjoy it whenever I choose, which is quite often. All the actors were AMAZING. I give it 5 stars and wish it had lasted a couple more seasons. LOL.....Brick made me learn a bit about fonts.💗

I’ve watched every episode and Axel is a favorite character. But I have to give kudos to the writers. Whoever they are they must have definitely raised kids. Because every episode definitely mirrors my experience raising 3 kids and being middle class. Excellent show.

It wasn't focused on Axl. I think that's just something written up for the sake of this specific video. The show really mainly was about Frankie (the one who was narrating the action in the episodes) AND her family.

I remember the first time I began watching the middle was in 2014 in my job's break room. There was this big theater tv set and I'd go there on my 15 minute break just to watch 😂 eventually i would put the show on for the residents/patients at the nursing facility I worked at. I still watch the re-runs with my one on one client ... The middle has been a big part of my job 😂

There is something key to the character name 'Axl.' I noted when I sang with a German choir, that there is something attention getting, and mischievous, about how Germans have names that are just slightly off from the conventional-- like Birgit instead of Brigitte, or Axle instead of Alex. The name change seemed key to McDermott's getting the role of a lifetime.
