My goodness. Intelligent and insightful look at Vern’s career. I met him when I opened shows for him in 1987. He had recorded for or five of the songs that ended up on his first CBS album. Great stuff. Buddy Cannon said that Vern finally found a producer (Bob Montgomery) who was smart enough to get out of Vern’s way and let him make his record. Later on I wrote some songs with Vern and recorded some with him. He was in great shape then: He’d quit smoking and (mostly) quit drinking and was running every day. Good and memorable times. Thanks again.

Mark, This was going to be my retirement job but as it turns out that when I retired the people i was employed by offered me more money to come back than my wife would let me refuse.
