A terribly produced piece of electronic merde full of incorrect data and the usual abominable mispronounciations. Fortunately, our dear departed friend would not take offense at any of it. He'd simply smile and enthrall us all with another soul-stirring song. A vocal embodiment of ALL things that can be felt. THAT is who he was, is, and ALWAYS will be. 💔🙏🌈🇨🇦👑

Since I was too poor to buy his album and there was no Internet back then, several of us tried to catch his lyrics on paper when the song would come on the radio. It's just my opinion, but I think music was not pure and innocent even back then. I think every generation has people who make claims like this. Besides, music written by naive and innocent people tends to suck. Lightfoot wrote with honest introspection and his semi-autobiographical characters would explicitly or implicitly expose their own sins, not innocence.

How many times I cried in awe and poignancy at his songs, especially back in college when I would listen to the Don Quixote album over and over. So much power of pure humanity, heart, and musical beauty from a couple of guitars and a voice. That said, it's a little depressing that this video, generated mostly by AI and with an AI-generated voice-over that mispronounces basic names and words,,, the antithesis of Gordon Lightfoot's gift to us, which was one of pure authenticity, not cookie-cutter anything.

Saw him in concert only one time, but that was unforgettable. He and one other guitarist sat on stools onstage and played song after song, interspersed with the briefest of banter - between themselves or with the audience - for almost 2 hours, and then they were done. It was more like sitting in the back yard or the living room than a “concert.” It was just sweet music, smartly crafted lyrics, and a musician comfortable and sure of himself and his product.

I’m 15 and his music still 2 years after discovering his music it still releases something in my brain few songs can. I cried when I found out he died. I was listening to carefree highway when I found out. A shameful loss.

He was one of my influences when I started playing in the early 70s. Amazing writer/composer that will be sadly missed. I'm so grateful to have been around when his music was born. His music is timeless, and his stories will continue to find new ears. RIP Gordon, you were one of a kind.

I made many a road trip listening to Gords songs. They seemed to provide the perfect accompaniment on a long trip through the vastness of the Southwest. Remember driving to Twin Lakes outside of Bridgeport on a hot day with the top down in an orange Olds 442 convertible playing Race Among the Ruins. It seemed to perfectly fit the situation. Or listening to Christisn Island heading to Bodie in a Chevy Suburban...Thanks for the music Gord. Rest in Peace.

Many of us guitar players hold Gordon up as one of the best composers for guitar ever. Such an amazingly authentic emotional expression of human experience through his guitar playing. And marched with his poetic lyrics and superb voice. RIP Mr. Lightfoot.

A Yank writes: Surely Gordie belongs mentioned with the Greatest of the Great of that greatest of all musical periods; the 1960s and 1970s. Right up there with the Beatles, CCR, and Stones etc, etc. Thank YOU Gordon Lightfoot for all the world's pain you temporarily freed us from with your incredibly gifted music. Canadians have REAL reason to be exceptionally proud of this exceptional human being....

Man he deserves every drop of reveration he's getting here, just for his work not allowing the memory of average, working class men due to greed and incompetance slip into obscurity.
