It would have been amazing if GTA III had an actual sequel as all of the 3D era titles after III were prequels. Or maybe they did planned a sequel in the form of the GTA Tokyo from recent leaks but by the time they did decide it was already late as the PS2, original Xbox and Renderware Engine were ancient technology and it was time to move to newer technologies with a new universe and characters.

Well in vice city he is a learner wanting to be like Carrington. In LCS he is newly rich to newly poor so you see him adjusting to it being wild when rich and pathetic when poor. I 3 he has been rich for a while and thus has reached the stage his mentor was at in vice city

I could be overthinking it and it's just an easter egg but judging by the dialogue in one of the Short Trip missions in online, there was a reference to one SA mission where CJ and The Truth burnt the field of weed. But I wish they did more than just references.

@@elspagheti no he won't Rockstar made it clear that games released on the older consoles (PS2/OG Xbox) will never be brought into any of the newer games so no he's not coming back the only 2 characters from the OG GTAs that have made physical appearances in GTA 5 alone are Lazlow and Chris Formage but they break the "universe crossover" rule Rockstar has because they were only voiceovers on radio stations with Chris being on WCTR in San Andreas and Lazlow in practically every game as for the universe rule GTA 3 was set in the 3D universe along with 4 other games whereas 4-5 are in the HD universe and Rockstar made it a thing where no characters from the 2D and 3D universes are allowed to appear in the HD universe meaning no Donald Love or anyone from Vice City Stories/Vice City,San Andreas,or LCS/GTA3 in GTA 5 or the next GTA

In "Grand Theft Aero," Donald sends Claude to retrieve his package from the Colombian Cartel. He also made sure that the Yakuza would go more hostile against the Cartel for the death of Kenji. So my theory is that Catalina somehow killed Donald and disposed his body mysteriously. --OR-- Donald knew that the Cartel would go after him, so he sneakily escaped from Liberty City without anyone noticing. Then he went all quite into the shadows of unknown.

The 3D Era left a lot of questions unanswered! R* should've at least make an animated movie or some comics books to explain some loose ends! Like who became the new leader of the Leone Family? What happened to Donald Love? Is CJ and his family still alive or Salvatore killed them? etc. That's why I like total conversion mods like Forelli's Redemption! Even though it's not canon (and treat some characters and lore poorly...) it's still good to see that it gives us some closure to some of these characters.

And we will never get to know what happened to him as chronologically GTA III is the last game in the 3D timeline. The only few guesses we can make is that either the Columbian Cartel kidnapped the Oriental Gentleman again and took Donald too or maybe Tommy Vercetti kidnapped him and later killed him as he was finally able to trace down Avery's killer or maybe he just left Liberty City temporarily so as to cut all his contacts with Claude because he's someone who has no problem on turning back on the people he's working for and kill them.
