I took the Deal ending on my first playthrough. Roman keeps begging you to take the deal and cut loose from the criminal underworld instead of murdering everyone. Because so far, Niko pulling the trigger in all the story choices was (almost) always the worse option. But then this came like a stab to the chest. I'll never forget chasing after Dmitri on Liberty Island with the AK.

Yo Mackeroni you probably won’t read this but because you wanted to appease Roman and do what made him happy, you made the correct choice with Deal. I hate how people are just like, “Revenge is the better ending because you lose Kate either way”. Roman lives in revenge and the deal ending is depressing as shit. If it was the other way around, where the player cared a lot about Kate and went on the dates, then yes you should do revenge. Niko loses the people he cared about the most, and the tragedy is not the loss itself, but Niko making a decision influenced by either Kate or Roman. He and you the player should listen to whoever you care about most.

2:49-3:00 there is a detail many players couldn’t notice: in the revenge ending, when pegorino starts shooting niko, roman covers mallorie with his body and make sure she gets down before he does. Though both of them survives (I know Kate is the unfortunate one), we can see Roman really cares about mallorie than himself, I think this is a character development that shows Roman is a good husband. Another great detail in GTA4! 😃

Little fun fact about this cutscene: kate is still present and fully animated. Just moved underground. And in the magic show in faustins club in which the women is tied to that rack and he throws knives, after the curtain closes he stabs her intentional into the stomach multible times. Until she dies

One of the most determinant missions in the game. 0:25 2:15 It's weird no one is inside the church, except for the newlyweds and the priest, more like a "private" ceremony. :P 1:11 I love how Mallorie pronounces Roman's name in Spanish: Ro-MÁN, not RO-man, due to her Puerto Rican heritage. That's their editing technique maturing. In this scene the mocap action is either one take or edited to look like one take, and it's shot like multi-camera live TV. In GTAV they use single-camera technique, cutting different mocap takes together and using camera changes to hide the cuts, so it no longer looks seamless from any other angle.

I found out that Kate was originally going to attend the wedding in the Deal ending too, they did her motion capture and her character model was in the cutscene but they removed her (probably because it didn’t make sense for her to attend since she was mad at Niko for giving up his principals for money) 0:38 And in an interesting twist, during the cutscene where Roman gets shot, she’s actually underneath the sidewalk reacting to everything just like the other people So instead of deleting her from the cutscene all together, they just hid her underneath the map while she still was reacting to everything that’s happening in the Deal wedding

In the beta version Kate would go to the wedding even though she didn't agree with the deal since Niko would say that the deal was just to help Roman pay for the trip to Vice City, Kate would respect Niko's choice, for unknown reasons Rockstar removed this BETA version of the Deal.
