The thing most people don't get about Venus is that due to the different rotation direction a day cycle on Venus (sunrise, sunset, sunrise again, not a completed rotation around the axis, very important differencein that case), is about half a Venus year. Venus is a good option. It would be best to tow it into Earth's orbit so it leads us, for easier commuting, and increases its spin so its days are the same length. It would also be visible in the sky if close enough as another earth. Eventually, you could build a whole chain of them. You would need to completely recondition the atmosphere and seed it with Earth's flora and fauna. It would take an entire army of robots, but I think the first step would be to move it and spin it up. The closer it is the easier it would be to exploit.

Ok, I understand and I admit that the idea of terra forming a planet to make it habitable for humans is a noble and aspiring idea. Earth is precious yet unique in that it has a magnetic field to shield us from solar radiation. Otherwise our atmosphere would be blown away into space. We don't have the means or technology to create a magnetic field for a planet. That type of technology is hundreds of years away, at the very least. What is the purpose of trying to create an atmosphere suitable for humans, when it's just going to be stripped away. Instead we should concentrate on preserving the only planet we have capable of sustaining human life. It's all we have for now, and it should be our priority to preserve it's habitable atmosphere for human life. Obviously, Earth will continue to exist for billions of years, with or without us.

Adding valuable building materials near the surface. Pull those gasses from Venus to Mars. Heat up mars, cool down Venus. I also don't understand the need for humans setting up the settlements. Earth do not need to be terraform just need to be taken care of. And we are doing a terrible job at messing it up thing is we will do the same thing to other planets and if we got to these planets reformed would they send only the "right" people to them. IF America wants to prove it is not a racist country I challenge them to do this one thing. Send an all non white crew to the moon this time around or to Mars. They will not do it because naturally they believe in white supremacy even those white people that do not consider themselves to be racist. That just the way we humans are. But a snowball has a better chance in an oven on BROIL then they sending an all black or an all Hispanic crew to Mars or the moon. The way America sees it is if you want an all nonwhite crew to go too these planets then let those non-white people create their tech to get them there. The only way you will ever see an all black crew would be if some African country send them their but most English speaking country especially America and European countries think the chance of that happening is like a buffalo drinking water at the edge of a river filled with crocs and not being ate.
